On the bracket I see Haugen is the 2 seed at 160 but not listed on the forum here. Unless something changed Kattevold is the 3 not the 2 seed. Edited by spacecowboy, Feb 24 2017, 12:05 PM.

Sounds like Haugen is out if he's not in the list. Things happen. HSA kee from Marshall was hurt in practice this week. Maybe Haugen got hurt. Good luck to all the teams! |

Hsa Khee Lar is the 106lb'r who got hurt Tuesday. Very unfortunate for him, he could have done some good things at sections. Hsa La Eh is the 113lb'r. Both are wonderful kids on and off the mat. They will be fun to watch the next couple of years. |

Lowest seed at #6 is New Ulm's Stark at 152 with a very legit chance of advancing to state, kinda went under the radar with is 23-6 record.

Anyone know what was going on with the fairmont coach, the refs, and the rule book during the true second matches? |

Early in the match Schroepfer was called for fleeing and Maldanado ws awarded a technical point. Schroepfer gets called for stalling with 10 seconds left, his 1st warning. After the match F/MCW coach then questions if a stall should of been called on the fleeing. |

I would like to make a comment on the new stalling rules. I like good action packed wrestling but have we gone too far? I felt like I was watching an NFL game where the officials were throwing too many ticky tack pass interference flags. Sometimes the action of defending a take down takes you off the mat and shouldn't be considered fleeing or stalling. And I say that as the wrestlers I was supported at times were the beneficiary of those calls. A couple of really well wrestled matches were ruined a bit by too much officiating. The Nielson/Altermatt ( thought the stall call on Nielson was not warranted to tie it up for a really super duper action packed match) and the Schroepfer/Maldando come to mind(what a circus disaster that would have been if they decided after Schroepfers arm was raised to bring the kids back out on that mat. Let the kids win the match on the mat. I like it when a wrestler who is obviously stalling gets called but I think what we have now is a bit too much. Edited by spacecowboy, Feb 25 2017, 11:24 PM.

Especially the Hutt-Welch match. The ref basically gave that match to Hutt. |

If you call matches this way especially for the Heavy's we will have wrestlers just trying to force their opponents off the mat instead of trying to get take downs. What you have is a form of sumo wrestling. |

First of all, congrats again to all who moved on. Reward the aggressor who is being offensive. Working the edge and playing defense is not good Wrestling, it IS stalling, and is bad for the sport. My question is why they don't call the match the same in the first period as they do in the third. Then the refs feel like they need to make it up for some reason. Call it early, make kids wrestle. Zero consistency has been very frustrating all season. |

Not only be consistent 1st-3rd period but, why wait until the end of the year to be so strict with stalling? From start to finish of the season, be as consistent as the post-season, I bet quality of wrestling will improve as well. |

That stall call on Nielsen was terrible and not necessary. I was even rooting for Altermatt and thought it was the bad. Let the kids decide it, don't let the ref decide the match |

Exactly. I don't really care for the push out and most fleeing the mat calls either. |

I wish stalling was called MORE often and consistently. If a guy is called for stalling and when there is a break in the action, if that guy steps to the side, back, or puts up a "blocking" move, then ding him immediately and give a point. Promote more offense. Saw this constantly in the AV/Shakopee dual and I think refs were scared to call stalling on AV. |

Yep scared to call stalling against AV :) Top 2 teams in the state, top 30 teams in the country 19 state qualifiers, 9 matches of 3 points or less and yep there was a lot of stalling in that dual. Come on MAN!! Edited by WrestlingOfficial, Feb 26 2017, 12:53 PM.

That's the kind of biased opinion an official can't have. Just because they think a Wrestler or a team is better, they call it different. That's really discouraging to hear that you think it's OK to call the top 2 teams in the state different. An official should not have that opinion of the Wrestlers on the mat. Let the Wrestling they do or don't do decide it. |

I wouldn't call it biased to say that the level of action was so quick paced and tons of action, so stalling wasn't warranted very often. |

I would assume teams of that caliber and with scores that tight know how important bonus points are. In the matches where team A was favored over team b you truly believe there was no stalling, or they weren't trying to save points, keep it close? |
