2 classes could work. Biggest 96 schools in AAA which would make for better competition there. 12 teams per section plus opt ups. Kids couldn't just win 1 match to make it to state like I believe 10 kids did in section 2aaa. The rest of the schools would be class a and have like 16 Schools a section. Top team makes it and top 3 individuals. It's fewer teams, but more competitive. It's the same number of individuals but yet is more competitive. Just some thoughts. Probably wrong thread, but you brought up competition level. But that always goes in cycles. Based on state placers we were not the worst. We'll be better next year.

Weakest section in the state. Need to restructure this one.
Its not the strongest section in the state but when you have four kids in the finals from one section, i'd say that is pretty good

And 3 of them are coming back all as state runners up. go section 3AA. I'm excited to see what the new section will look like, hopefully not too many changes for 17-18?? Anybody got any idea of whose staying and whose leaving? And who will be joining us???

Keep top 2 for each weight class. 3 per weight class would make a 24 man bracket ...then you have to deal with byes....

The idea would be to seed the champs. 2nd and third would be randomly drawn in to wrestle into the winner's bracket. Have double elimination. Fewer teams and one less class of individuals could open up the time for this. It gives the same amount to of kids the chance to make it individually, but it would definitely be earned with all sections having about 15 teams or so. 243 programs now divided by 16 is a little over 15 per section. Makes things more competitive, but eliminates some team opportunities....

You sure spend alot of time whining about Wab/RRC. Instead of kissing the coaches asses everytime you see them why not voice your concerns to them next time you see them.

No whining, just calling them out for taking the easy way out time after time. And I don't kiss ass, I'd end up with chapped lips like yours.

What are possibilities that team is settled in a one day tournament?

How about individuals?

MAHACA will have some kids that do very well in 3AA. Rose broke a finger against the 1 seed in the second round and had to default out. He had a chance at placing. 8AA was very deep this year in the weights where our best wrestlers were. In many cases the 5th place finishers were very close to the 2nd.(top 2 in many weights were not exceptional either) Next year MAHACA will be very good up to 126 or 132 and then will have 3 or 4 very good wrestlers scattered through the rest. I will put them as the 5 seed going in as a team with a chance to make the semis and 3 or 4 with a legitimate chance to qualify for state. If the section continues to split north and South I think MAHACA will have a shot at final four, but things will have to go there way big time.

NLS has some very good wrestlers just not many total. they might be better than I think because they have some very good young kids coming up and are very well coached.

I for one am excited to back to 3AA. Just more familiar with teams and communities than those up north. Now I just hope that we can schedule some competition against 3AA teams.

Glad to be back. Still a long drive to most of the teams, but that was going to be the case no matter where we went. We had a classic case of under-performing at sections this year, across the line up. I see us as the 5 or 6 seed next year in 3AA. We will be very deep, but young down low. The top half will have some holes, but the wrestlers that are there will be solid.

I am hoping we schedule the Redwood tourney instead of Big Bear this year.

Welcome back MAHACA, and hello NLS. Good to see wabasso do what they think is best and MOVE away from tough competition. Quad moving down was a bit of surprise to me, with their 3 schools combined. they will be missed. and TMB/wwg moving down. makes our section a beat weaker, WE WILL be weaker to begin with. NLS has forfeits, and we lose wabasso, quad, and tmb all who were in the top 5 overall last year. not good for 3AA My predictions for team:

1. Fairmont/mcw
2. Worthington
3. Marshall
4. MAHACA
5. NEW ULM
6. REDWOOD VALLEY
7. UNITED
8. LUVERNE
9. NLS
10. FULDA/MCC

The 50% rule got Quad under. MAHACA is only 3 over with that new rule(no complaint, just demonstrating how that rule effects the classifications)

I think Redwood is going to be better than that next year.

Now that there is only 10 teams, will they consider doing the team tournament in 1 day?

They should move to a 1 day tournament. Wonder if individuals will do a 8 man bracket with pigtails for the bracket with 9 or 10 guys...(I would probably guess that about half the weight classes could be 8 man brackets if NLS has forfeits).

8 man brackets is likely what we'll have. If that. F/MCC won't have a full lineup. NLS won't have a full lineup and a few other teams will have some holes. We had some light brackets already this year. Next year won't be better. Dont get me wrong, I think our section will be more competitive at state next year. I just think we'll have more light brackets. It might be fun to do a 1 day tournament for both team and ind. It would create a fun atmosphere for sure on those weekends!

Marshall has nice facilities, hotels and restaurants, maybe as close to center of section as it gets.

That's a good idea. Do they have enough bleacher space and mat space to have 3 or 4 mats?

I hope it is a one day tournament, Fulda/mcc will have forfeits, and nls will have forfeits, this hurts our section tremendously. and if it was a one day tournament we at Worthington could easily do it, or else united has a pretty good set up for it. We are gonna miss tmb/wwg, and quad. but wabasso seems to do this all the time, and runs from competition.

Come on man, enough with the beat downs.

Lets just stick to the actual wrestling talk. Why always throw jabs at everyone? No one said much to you when your predictions weren't exactly like you said. Enough is enough, I think you should start getting the point that we like to talk 3AA wrestling, not bring everyone down.

I just hope we can get some good wrestling out of 3AA next year, we look way down for next year:
United loses 2 studs, Worthington looses 3-4 good guys, and with the other teams departing, besides us and Fairmont their isn't going to be much. maybe marshall will be .500 next year but the rest looks pretty shaky at best

Again, always negative about everything. If you haven't noticed, this section has a lot of up and down wrestling team wise. We have always delivered on the individual side of things. There will be many wrestlers ready to make a jump into that role. Just because a team graduates studs, doesn't mean other individuals won't make that jump. There is a long time in between seasons and many wrestlers improve immensely over the summer. I can see up to 5-6 teams in our section having a winning record next year.
