Bluntman were you able to watch the world cup? I was only following along on the best I can and couldn't watch each match so can only make speculations.

But I felt like USA wrestlers were put on the shot clock more frequently?

I understand how guys get put on the shot clock, or is this just social media making it seem like USA was on shot clock more?
They were on the shot clock more. It is very subjective and the guy who controls the center will not be put on the clock. I don't really like this system as teams like Iran will just underhook, push and control the center rather than trying to create offensive attacks with shots and such. Our guys are used to the folkstyle system where the non offensive wrestler gets warned for not being offensive rather than being warned for not being in the center.
That is what I was assuming with regards to Iran and USA being put on the shot clock just didn't know for sure. Thanks for clarifying that and by what it sounded that is how Green lost if im not mistaken was not being able to get by the underhooks and getting put on the clock.

I like the shot clcok and forcing action, wish there was a better system for it. But it is what it is.
Yeah, David Taylor was pretty close to getting stalled out because he kept getting pushed off the mat with the underhook. The good news is, it takes a lot of oxygen to run all those muscles and the champ gassed. Taylor got past the underhook and took him apart. It was such a fun match to watch in the second half.

I am happy I got to catch the 2nd half of the Taylor's match. The champ gassed and broke, just look at him after the fall when he just laid on the mat.

Overall, I enjoyed the world cup and was impressed with USA's team, hopefully Gwiz can start figuring it out on the international level. Would like to see him have some success

The more international wrestling I watch the more I am figuring it out. Seems like guys like Stieber, Taylor, Snyder and Delognev have a lot of success with low level John Smith like shots below the knee. These international wrestlers are so low to the ground you have to change levels so low just to get to them. Also, you watch Gwiz get squashed every time he went under because he could not get in deep enough with his hips. He might not be fast enough to execute a double or high crotch like Burroughs or Green. Molinaro has such a nice lefty high c, but he has trouble getting to it all the time.

Ramos got in on so many single legs to both sides in this tournament but only finished a small percentage. Seems like if you cannot get the peak through finish situation, you are stuck trying not to get countered.

I definitely noticed the low level John Smith shots. Maybe they saw something and know they could use that move wrestlers who like to use underhooks. You might be right with Gwiz. I dont know if it is just me, I always feel like everything just goes against Molinaro. But I do enjoy watching him wrestle.

That is why I am a big fan of freestyle, where you gotta keep moving because you can get countered so fast. The ones who have success are able to finish there shots.
