In the very first dual of the season, there were two shoelace violations that were called during the meet. One penalty/technical point was awarded after a match was concluded that made a major decision into a decision. The other was called before another had started and a point was awarded making it 1-0 before there was any action. It was interesting only that the violations were called while there wasn't any action going on. I believe in both cases, the laces weren't secured down. Never having really read or understood the rule, what is the rule on wrestler's shoelaces? |

Shoe laces must be secured and wrestler ready to wrestle when they appear on the mat. Secured in past years was Velcro straps as part of shoe or tape around laces. And tape around laces could be just the loops That changed this year to .. tape must be around the ankle to be secured |

Can't they still use the shoe manufacturers securing system w/o tape if the shoe has one? |
