Wondering if they relaxed the rules of having to wrestle both GR/FS ? It doesn't seem to be an issue at all for SBs and Cadets but for some reason is for juniors. Does anyone have this years line-ups?

I'm not sure what the rosters will be, so far we just have 4 kids listed under the Blue Greco team, I'm sure the rest will be updated soon.

100 - Paxton Creese
106 - Joseph Thompson
106 - Ryan Henningson
113 - Max Crowe

They all wrestled both.

I think Karen is just eluding to more Juniors might participate if they didn't have to do both perhaps?

Ah I see that makes sense after reading it again.

Yes. The 1993/94 birth year group were double champs as both schoolboys and cadets,....then they lost 1/2 the group because many didn't want to wrestle Greco and the team wasn't even close to the level of kids they had for SB and Cadets, and I don't really understand why? The exact same kids had no issues wrestling both styles as Cadets and SBs, and then they get to juniors and don't want to wrestle Greco anymore....seems strange to me?

I have seen it too Karen. Of course, wrestling at the Jr. level takes a bit more out of you than the SB or even cadet level. Also, some of these kids are pulling a bunch of weight and holding it (even with the allowance), may be another problem. I don't have all of the details of this year's team, but I think very few wrestlers, if any, are wrestling just one style. My sons experiences on the duals teams have been some of their favorite memories. They are excited to represent the Storm and bring home hardware.

Go STORM!

What bothers me more, is that we cant get some of our top kids to even do JR Duals.

The goal of these coaching staffs is to win a TEAM title at Fargo, not duals. It is great to win but it is always made clear to parents, kids and coaches that fargo is #1.

MN blue is about as tough a team as I can remember us having. Tons of outgoing seniors on the team which is nice to see.

The goal of this coaching staff is to win JR Duals....Same for the young men wrestling. They aren't thinking about Fargo this week. It has never been made clear to me by the coaches that there is less of a emphasis on JR Duals, and this is his 3rd year doing it. The emphasis is to win JR Duals this week. Then after this week, they should turn all there attention to Fargo.

Can anyone explain the team seeding points and how they get them? MN has 38 seed pts, what do the letters & numbers stand for after their names?

Clearly winning both would be great, but correct me if I'm wrong mn doesn't do a camp before duals like they do for Fargo. Illinois I believe does do a camp before duals. Holding a camp before fargo and not duals would go into the "what's the biggest goal?" equation I think.

MN wrestles Tennessee first in the championship pool tommorrow. MN will cruise, but it is really cool to see a state like Tennessee put a team in the top 8.

Georgia also had a great team at schoolboy duals. It is nice to see wrestling spread to the south.

I would disagree with this stayement totally. These teams travel to these duals to win it for Minnesota, period. For all intensive purposes, Fargo is an individual event not a team so much though there is team scoring but only if you make the placing round.

But I have been to both SB and Cadet duals and from my first hand knowledge these teams and coaches want that wood USA plaque with the gold seal.

By all means we want to win duals but we keep in mind Fargo is the tournament we want to win for cadets. It was the same when I was competing in cadets/juniors.

Tight finals with IL. Not real pleased with the non call of passivity in the 106 match. IL wrestler maintained a folk/freestyle stance with hips out doing nothing. I know we want these kids to decide these matches but hips in chest up. Cant score in greco if you do not force these wrestlers to open up and take hold.

Really did not think we would lose by 20 to Illinois. Lost some close ones but even that wouldn't have been enough.

Freestyle will be tough, Oklahoma is bring in Fix, Gfeller and Golawenski fresh and Illinois is rotating in a few fresh guys as well.

Illinois will be very tough to beat again in Freestyle. The depth of talent in Illinois is unbelievable. Their freestyle team is even better than their Greco team. MN, OK, PA, and OH will be trying to dethrone Illinois in Freestyle.

Oklahoma is bringing their hammers. Pennsylvania and Ohio are always better in freestyle than Greco and Minnesota is always unbelievably tough. Freestyle should be a great event with great competition between all these great wrestling states!!

Illinois' best passed on the duals as well. Real Woods, Travis Ford Melton, Madrigal, Lewan, O"Conner, Gomez, Renteria, Warner, McGee, Timmons, Wroblewoski and Norfleet are all nationally ranked and did not wrestle for Illinois this weekend at the duals. Just like every year, all the states are missing some of their best wrestlers this weekend.

In all honesty I really don't care what kids in other states do. It's an honor to represent your state. Feeling you are to good or break a commitment is hogwash. Imo
