USA wins big against India.
Hayden Zillmer got to rep the Storm in the first dual vs India too, with Schlatter in his corner. He cut ~11 pounds from his typical 97/98kg to make 92kg and beat a 2016 Cadet World Champ 7-0

I don't think Stieber is the best American at 65kg.

He is still great on top but he hasn't been looking good enough on his feet to consistently get on top. His straight on doubles from space are no longer effective.

He won his world title at 61 and hasn't put up great results at 65. Wouldn't surprise me to see any of Oliver, Zain, Futrell, Green, and Molinaro beat him for the next Olympic spot.

Man, Maple is frustrating. You can see he has the speed, quickness, and skill to score, he just doesn't pull the trigger.

Poor mat awareness at the end there too. A step out would've been just fine, but he stayed and tried to fight and gave up the TD.

Gilman lost 8-7. Kind of got physically manhandled to give up 6 of his points.

Maple trying for his first win of the tournament.

Annnnnnd...Stieber beats 3 time World Champ Haji Aliev.

USA should be in the driver's seat now thanks to wins from Maple and Stieber.

After Green surprisingly lost, Burroughs comes out and dominates and picks up a fall.

USA up 3-2. USA probably at least slight favorites in 4 of the final 5 matches. Plus Burroughs fall puts them in great position if it ends with a 5-5 split

Went in person. First time I've ever been to a FS meet, let alone to an International Competition. Crowd loved the Cubans and Japanese. Both of those teams waved at the fans as they marched and the fans reciprocated. The first 3 guys out of the shoot for japan were incredible. Speed, misdirection, big gas tanks and all around mat save. They gave Japan a 3-0 lead. When walking in, I was with some Iowa Squawkeye fans.....I mentioned that it was going to be very strange cheering for the same wrestlers that they were cheering for and one remarked that this weekend, we were all cheering for American Wrestlers; and he had that right. But.....it was still damn hard to cheer for Gilman. :-)

why ? Why NOT ? I'm a fan, first of all....and I think he has a lot to show....

I'm not stupid, I know Cox is the number one guy at the weight on the team, and Hayden was behind him in experience, etc, so of course Cox gets the match....just wanted to see Hayden wrestle.

I get your a homer. Why specifically that match though. Did it have something to do with the opponent or just your desire to see the backup split time with the number 1 guy?
