I’m probably jinxing things but Gable Steveson seems to have good shot of going undefeated like Cael did

Gable turned 18 on May 31st, yes, we're all looking forward to improving as a team this Fall.

re: going undefeated, I'm sure Gable would like to accomplish this. And he likely believes it's possible. I also think if he's very careful in each match, and yet is aggressive as he can be (scoring a lot), that it's quite possible. If he lost a match or two, and still became a 4x champ, that's probably not so terrible either.

If he gets past year one undefeated, then he's probably got it made.

Just pace yourself and let it happen, it will be fun to watch!!

Not going to lie, I could see him dropping matches to Kerk. Hope it doesn’t happen, but don’t overlook kerk.

Gable is the best, but he is bringing a talented crop of heavyweights with him in the next year or so. He will have competition. And many expect Kerk to be is biggest challenge (myself included).

If Hutmacher decides to wrestle, he could challenge him. He has almost unmatched size and athleticism and he is nowhere near his potential. A well coached Hutmacher could pose all of the problems that Coon posed him in addition to an ability to explode to the legs. That said, Gable would still probably win and he'll probably go with football anyway.

If u are Hutmacher idk how u don’t go the Football route. That kid is huge, bigger scholarship, maybe pros.

He could probably not even play football in college and still play in the NFL, like Stephen Neal.

Maybe.

Why hold ur weight down for five years and not train in that sport if that is your end game though. He is already 300 as a sophomore.

Oh well no need to hijack sorry

Hwt predictions:

Hutmacher will be too big. Kerk will be main challenger (or Gable maybe main challenger to him, Kerk is going to be sooooo good.) Wouldn't be surprised to see Schultz go otc. Cassioppi will AA consistently but not get close to a title and will through fits when he loses.

I highly doubt Gable goes undefeated. It just doesn't happen. All but 1 have slipped up somewhere through the grind.

After seeing Gable success at senior level including beating Dom Bradley, I think he is a little further along than Kerk right now. Kerk is world class and I wish he would have been a Gopher. I think most of us hope he has great success (except vs. MN).

NA. As long as Gable isn't on Bobby's conditioning schedule, he will go undefeated :D .

The Gable you seen wrestle Kerkvliet wasn't the Gable you see right now. He was sick, not in shape or just wrestled a piss poor match as he stated.

Also, I'm probably in the minority, but DK is a tweener if he's going hvy. in College. He'll need to add at minimum 20 to 30 lbs and he's already ripped.

I am a big Kerkvliet fan, but I am also worried about his size. He is very lean naturally. He will need to put on the 25-35Lbs of muscle to be a true Hwt. It will be harder than people think. Without that weight he will not beat Gable. I don't believe the question is can Kerk beat Gable. The question is can he get big enough to beat Gable.

By the way there is another Great athlete out there named Mason Parris, who also could put on the 25-35lbs of muscle necessary could beat them both.

Next year I don't believe anyone can beat Gable.

I kind of link the idea of Kerk staying a smaller heavyweight, America can't win two Olympic medals at heavyweight. We're going to want him at 213 after he graduates if at all possible.

I guess if stating my opinion means i’m a troll, then I’m guilty. I’ve watched them both plenty of times and have been around them enough, and have listened to what high level coaching has said to have a opinion on it. You don’t have to agree.

Sure. You weren't trying to get a response by saying everyday of the week.... when he lost to him within the last few months.

You could've said I think Kerk will have a better collegiate career but you wanted to get a response.

Gable without major injury will win NCAA titles and be a 4x all American. A good chance to win a senior world title and maybe the Olympics. Kerk without a major injury might do all of those as well. Saying you would take one over the other is splitting hairs.

I watched the Gable vs Kerk match and what I saw was a bored Gable not really going 100%. That's just how I felt. There was nothing that Kerk was doing that affect Gable. Gable controlled the match and was never in any danger of losing it. Now you add that Gable will be a year ahead of Kerk in college level fitness and weight training 365 days a year and the talent and I just don't see him beating Gable. That's crazy to say given how good he is, but that weight advantage is way more impacting than what some are expecting. Just add a 20lbs backpack to your shoulders and then do a few pushups, walk around for 5 minutes and do some penetration steps and let me know how you feel.

Its not 20LBS, the day they wrestled Greg weighed 214 and Gable weighed 255. Gable looked bigger at the world team trials. Kerkvliet is wrestling 213 this summer at the Junior world championships. Like I said he has gain a lot of weight.

If he's weighing 213, is he at 5% body fat? I know he's lean...but it'd really be nice if he could do 1 year at 197 and have both of them (if he flipped his commit again)...

18/19-Gable-TFr.
19/20-Gable-So/Kerk-Oly RS--he'll be probably near 213 till Aug. Then could cut from Aug. 20 to Mar. 21....
20-/21-Gable Jr./Kerk-197-"True Fr."/2nd year Fr.
20/21-Gable-Sr./Kerk-Reg. Redshirt--bulking up closer to 230.
21/22-Kerk-So.-Hwt, 22/23-Kerk-Jr-Hwt., 23/24-Kerk-Sr.-Hwt

It CAN be done. It would just mean 1 year of truly cutting for Kerk after a year of wrestling FS and attempting to make the Olym. team (although we know Snyder will probably get it that year.)

Mocco was on a roll headed for a third title.... And than along came Cole Konrad.

Just saying anything can happen.

I honestly don't think that Gable will go undefeated; Mark Hall didn't do it, Chance Marstellar didn't do it, Damion Hahn didn't do it, Carry Kolat didn't do it. All of the people who come out of highschool labeled "unbeatable" always end up getting beaten. Steveson is the best high school wrestler of all time, but I still think that someone will appear to take him down.
