How does a cadet or junior qualify for Fargo nationals?

I think you have to go to Northern Plains in Madison, I am not sure if you have to place or just participate. And then I think you have to go to Augsburg camp the week before Nationals and then get picked to represent Minnesota. I think Minnesota can only have 5 or 6 per weight. This is what I understand. I am not positive that it is all 100% correct.

What about for juniors? What if they can't make northern plains this weekend?

Wrestle.

Pretty much every wrestler that wrestles in the MN/USA Cadet or Junior State tournaments will be invited to camp. Every wrestler that competes in a USA Wrestling Regional tournament (Western Juniors, Rocky Mountain, Northern Plains, etc.) will be invited to camp. Every wrestler that has a current (2005-06) USA Wrestling card who placed in the state HS tournament will be invited to camp.

Beyond that, if a coach requests that a certain wrestler be invited we will more than likely do so. All we ask is that the coach send an email to the director for the wrestlers appropriate age group (Cadet Director Jim Moulsoff, Junior Director Chris Willaert) and tell us why we should invite them.

Yes. The team is selected at camp. We are allowed a maximum of 4 per weight but anyone who placed in the top 3 at a USA Wrestling Regional for that age group and style does not count against the roster limits. So you could have more than 4 at each weight.
Some years wrestle-offs and stuff like that are needed to finalize the roster and in some years the numbers have worked out where it's not needed.

Wow! So if you get 1-3 at Northern Plains, you can go no matter what, as long as you go to camp at Augsburg? And then you coaches will pick an additional 4 wrestlers? Is it the same for cadets as it is for juniors? Does the team go from Augsburg to Fargo as a group? Is there a cost to go to camp, and what is it? Does the whole MN team stay together in Fargo in hotels or on campus or do you stay with parents? Lots of questions, but please answer! Thanks!!!

Top 3 from NP are automatics in that style. Don't count against roster limits. To wrestle in Fargo you MUST attend the training camp...camp is not optional if you want to wrestle in Fargo. If you don't go to camp you have no way of getting on to the official state roster. We can have up to 4 per weight excluding the automatics.

Team travels as a group to Fargo and stays in a hotel together. Team members do not and are not allowed to stay with parents.

Camp cost...being finalized yet. Letters will go out to those being invited sometime here in May with more details.

Make the team and your only cost in Fargo is meals. MN/USA pays for transportation (round-trip starting at Augsburg), entry fees, hotel rooms and uniforms (singlets, jackets, shorts, shirts).
