Team WI had them in the Midget-Novice Battle on the Border. They looked like biking clothes.

I have the blue and red ones from PA. I got them to work-out in, I don't think I would like to wrestle in them.

I think that they look like:
A: Bicycling attire

B: Grrannimals little boy jammies.

No, I do not like them for wrestling!

I had no idea Fargo even gave out a best singlet award. Your knowledge far surpasses mine.

Is it possible to have a 2-piece 'singlet'?

They didn't seem to hamper the guys wearing them. In fact, some of the guys wearing them were tough enough to make them look pretty good. I'd be more concerned that they might be a problem with a pin situation.

I like them, its tough to teach some of you old dogs new tricks! I don't think they will be overl popular. I also think they might be a little more "slippery" than the traditional.

Who had the ugliest singlets?

They wouldn't be so bad if they would have actually fit those that were wearing them. They are supposed to be skin-tight but most kids looked like they were wearing some that were 1-2 sizes too big.

I do however like the traditional singlet better regardless of how they fit. New Mexico's didn't look bad because they weren't as gaudy as some of the others. I'm not a big fan of that sublimation stuff...PA's and TX's were flat out hideous.

If anything, the teams with two pieces should have just worn the bottom half instead of both the top and the bottom. The tops were mostly too loose and didn't look very comfortable at all...plus they looked bad.

hmmm....... I think you're correct.

Wouldn't they be called a 'doublet' ??

or

'duplet'?

Ok, technically you're correct. But "two piece singlet" sounds way less ridiculous than "doublet".

I wasn't there to see them, so I can't say if they looked good or not.

But from the description I am 'seeing' biker shorts and a sports bra....

Please tell that's not an accurate description!!

:P

They are biker shorts and a short sleeved under armor shirt. I think someone already said a biker's uniform. That would be an accurate description. I don't know where you got the sports bra from.

That was funny!

Leave it to Kane (Grandpa Munster) to speak his mind!

This has already been discussed on a thread last winter, so I'll repeat what I stated then:

Two words - BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN!

The two piece uniform became an issue through the tournament. A main concern was that they were slippery, both for the person trying to take a lock and against the skin of the wearer. The wearing of the two piece was brought up at the coaches meeting. It was an advantage for those teams that wore them.

Because they were not properly fitting. Look at all those kids that were wearing them...they were 3 sizes too big. Had they been properly fitting I don't think it would have been as much of an issue. They are supposed to be skin-tight but most kids wearing them looked like they had on a t-shirt and shorts.

I think it's so they can get more "Sally's" out for the sport. Until you have wrestled someone wearing one please hold your comments. "I thinks" just don't cut it! It is a definite advantage in Greco vs the traditional singlet. They are slippery and they will soon find a material even more slippery to make them out of.. I'm with Ed.....Keep them in the practice room. They would be nice for the ladies..

I think part of the design reason was to cover more skin to cut down on the skin diseases in wrestling.

This was accepted by the USA Wrestling Board of Directors for the 2007 season:

15. Two Piece Singlet: That the use of a two piece singlet not be allowed at any USAW Regional or National Championships.

So I guess we don't have to worry about them any more at FS/GR tournaments.

I didn't see the two piece singlets but wouldn't there be a risk to loose the bottoms?
