My reply wasnt a whinning one.

It was just me wanting to say Great Job Boys!
and if I could give you all those cookies...IWOULD!

It's just too bad USA Wrestling didnt want to congratulate you all on a Job Well Done!
:(

It wasn't a whining one and yet you're blasting us for not "recognizing" all those that got recognition?

My question was serious and sincere...did we do something wrong? Feel free to email me and I'd be glad to have this discussion with you.

You did NOTHIG wrong! The banquet was a great time!

If there is no recognition for top kids, there would be nothing to strive for. After about 3rd grade, you lose interest in the "feel good opens" where everyone gets an award regardless. Losing helps kids strive to work harder and practice more. Natls is VERY tough. Any kid that goes has courage and that is a great character builder. There is way too much emphasis on every kid winning and getting recognized. (by the PARENTS) Ask ANY kid, ther know exactly who is tough, who works hard, and who doesn't.

Also, any kid (over 8) will tell you placing at State, NP and/or Natls, (not winning) is worth more than all CHAMPIONSHIP trophys (including 3 ft tall ones) at OPENS, combined. The kids know the BAR and it is insulting to them to "water down" an awards banquet by recognizing everyone.

It takes courage to participate in Natls, and great character to come back next year after getting kicked in the teeth there. And good character is far more important than awards.

Yikes! For a minute I thought I was re-living the days of watching Barney videos with my children. How does that song go?

As always,

Nice.. ..

Well CRDirector you are correct. Unit and I are probably not from the same forest.

But there are some similarities, none-the-less.

Our boys, Jonathon and Wyatt, are born 1 day apart. Our boys both love wrestling and their fathers, and we and our boys still engage in the occasional snuggle-fests watching cartoons on Saturday. (Although at 115 lbs, they might be just getting a little too big for that :D , ya wit me Unit!!)

Also, our passion for the sport is true. Unit enjoys writing inspirational posts; I in turn in enjoy reading them. Jonathon and I have bookmarked several of UNIT's posts for inspirational purposes over the last couple of years.

Four years ago, wrestling entered both my son's and my life for the first time and for that I am thankful. The sport took my pigeon toed stuttering child and turned him into the confident young man he is today. He overcame two years of "headlocks" and "lessons" in the wrestling room that he will NEVER forget. He understands that hard work equals success and he applies those principles to his studies.

If your "vague" comment is suggesting that I don't have the extensive wrestling background that UNIT has then you are correct. You could probably scrape underneath Unit's fingernail and find more wrestling knowledge than I currently have. But don't mistake my lack of "wrestling" knowledge for that of "life" knowledge.

Enjoy your season everyone; I am looking forward to seeing you all over the upcoming months.

You are reading into this way too much. I was not suggesting anything other than you and your "life knowledge" are completely different than Unit's. Take it for what it is, right wrong or indifferent. No harm was intended.

Mattmom,
You seem to have very minimal wrestling knowledge and I don't mean that as a put down, but if you continue to make statements like you have been about kids being "forgotten" and that the banquet didn't "tell the whole story" and whatnot....you're going to make quite a few enemies here. Also, I would suggest not trying to get into an internet battle with Unit. All in all, I would suggest that you take time to learn about how MN/USA wrestling works.

Oh, and "mat" is spelled with one "t"

Unless she in in fact Matt's mother in which case she is correct in her spelling.

BTW she is not the only one who needs to learn more about how USA works and the good they do before coming out in public with unheralded criticsm. Mattmom is just one of many who should take your advise.

Am I going to a bad place by telling anyone to take your (shruppie) advise. Dangerous waters indeed.

True. But I will still never agree with you. As I said before, somebody else could say the exact same thing as you and I will agree with them but not you. :P

When does your wife get back state-side?

Mattmom,
Also, I would suggest not trying to get into an internet battle with Unit.

Have you seen the back of the Units head? The whole thing is flat from all the different women who have cuffed him over the years. Better Mattmom takes him on from the front on the forum than mention it to his wife.... WHAP, I can hear it all the way up here. ;)

Just wanted to add that Unit is Horrible for saying those things he said about me.

But, ya know what He must be unloved or maybe just a Junkie! Maybe he needs a BIG Hug!

Shame on you I intended No wrong and didnt slash no individual or their Fam or Team!

I just had my 2 cents to put in

Is that what you wanted to know ?

No, I got that part, but she was the one slamming him. I think everyone here likes Unit for the most part and what he has to say. She said "I didn't want u all slamming him" like everyone joined in or something. Maybe I missed something there....whatever though.
