Hello to everyone!

I hope everyone doesn't think I'm a "sell-out" for doing my journal on themat.com!!! haha. I will be trying to do an update on there as often as possible so keep checking back on themat to stay informed. It's been an "interesting" trip thus far and I want to thank all the Minnesotan's who have emailed me sending their wishes. I hope I do well and represent MN as best I can in the upcoming tournament. Take care to all and I look forward to any questions you might have. jake84kg@yahoo.com

Much Respect!

Jake Clark

Jake,

Today is the big day. I've seen that you have a first-round bye. The Guillotine Forum Chatter seems to be slowing with the start of Football. However, I know there are many others out there like me staying awake tonight in anticipation of your world debut.

Regardless of how you do, I think that others would agree that Minnesota has reason to be proud of you. Go take it to them and be proud when your done. The state of Minnesota and a fat guy from Adrian is pulling for you.

Jake didn't quite make the medal round. He did register a win though. He got beat by an Iranian the match before the placing rounds. I suppose he would have gotten 7th or 8th if they wrestled it out. That isn't bad.

Good job Jake. Enjoy the rest of your trip and then get back to training. The Olympics are rounding the corner.

You're right about the Avluka guy too. He went on to win the silver. An Egyptian won the weight.

how exactly does the olympic bracketing work? Does the guy that beat you have to make it to the championship to get a shot at bronze?

Yes. The only people that go back into the repechage are those that lost to the finalists. So all of those "wrestle-backs" take place right after the semi-finals and can happen rather quickly.
