Hi, not sure if this is the right place for this, but I was just wondering if the Elk River Old Timers tournament is this coming weekend and what time it would be starting. I know the Detroit lakes one is this coming weekend and I thought the Elk River was the same day. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Here's the link to the info on the tournament from the Open Tournament page:

Elk River Old Timers

I noticed that it says 3 man round-robin brackets. I was thinking to myself that a 3 man bracket isn't much wrestling for a tournament. For anyone who is in charge of the tournament or knows the people who are, could you maybe think about changing the brackets? To at least a 4 man round-robin or possibly 8 man? It just seems like if someone may be traveling a ways, say 3 hours or so, just to wrestle that they should maybe get more than 2 matches. Just a thought. Thanks!

It would be nice to make both of the DL's and the Elk River's Tournaments, too bad they are on the same day.

I hear you. When it comes down to it, I will take the 45 minute drive over the 2 1/2 hour drive. Looks like Elk River just keeps growing, over 100 this year.

The Elk River Old-Timer Tournament was this past weekend and we finally went over 100 wrestlers. At the Elk River tournament, we have always used the 3 man round robin format but that will change next year. Next year we will use 3, 4 and 8 man brackets. The reason for the change is because we are getting bigger every year and can now put 8 wrestlers close to each other in weight and age in one bracket. We also found that a lot of wrestlers are coming to this tournament in pretty decent shape and can handle a third match. We hope this makes our tournament even bigger and better.

Next year we are also starting the 1st Annual Old Timer Duel Tournament. The tournament will consist of teams of six wrestlers with weight classes 145, 160, 175, 190, 215 and HWT. We will need at least 3 teams to make this work. Elk River has already set up their team for next year so look for the flyer on the Guillotine later this year because pre-registration will be required for this duel event.
