What style of wrestling is the AAU tournament this weekend in Rochester? I see that you can sign up at the door, can you get the AAU card there as well? I saw the other topic on this, how many qualify for the national events? any info would be appreciated! |

YOU HAVE TO ATTEND THIS ONE ON SAT. TO QUALIFY FOR Great Plains in Brooking SD in May. (Folkstyle) They take the top 3 frome each weight to advance to this regional. I believe it is 5-6 states. MN AAU tourney has had low turn outs in the past but the regional/Natl events have been exceptional! I highly recommend going so you can attend the regional. I believe the Iron Man in NE in June is an open tourney. (all 3 styles) |

http://www.theguillotine.com/youth/0607/60822aaugreatpl.html Check out the above link for the Great Plains info. They actually take the top four placewinners from AAU. |

No... AAU this Sat is a qualifier for Great Plains. Which, based on other AAU championships we have attended, the Great Plains will have insane competition! This is why we are going to the state tourney! I THINK the Iron Man in NE in June and the Montana gig are opens. We are doing the Iron man gig, but the MT one interferes with Northern Plains, and for us, MN/USa wins over AAU simply because they develop the wrestler all the way through! (They don't just host tourneys)....however, AAU runs great tourneys. |

For as big as the Great Plains is, it certainly is not advertised very well, and neither is the State tournament. |

Ironman is June 27-30th in Omaha NE, week before USA free/greco kids natls...good timing for once. They are supposed to have flyers out on it at AAU state Sat. Also on the great plains which is May 11-13 in SD. Our state tourney may be small, but the Natl events they put on are great and it IS a qualifier. |
