I can't remember from last year...are these Freestyle/Greco qualifiers going to be run in the same format as Folkstyle....4 man brackets, scratch weight, top two go on to qualify....or is it different?

Can someone answer or post a link to the answer? Thanks in advance for your help!!

Additionally, in the last few years at least, you did not have to qualify for Greco to wrestle. If you qualified for Freestyle, you automatically qualified for the Greco state also. Is this still the case or do you have to qualify for each of them separately? thanks,

Greco State is an open tournament. You do not need to qualify to compete. They usually run this on Friday. Freestyle you will need to qualify and they are usually scratch weight 4 man RR, but you can have larger brackets depending on who is running the tournament. I think AV had had 6-8 man brackets last year.

Yes, everyone does. (Freestyle)
They were ONLY exempt from Folkstyle because SOME schoolboys were on HS teams, thus not eligible to attend an open. Everyone can attend a FS open, so it is required for everyone. For Freestyle ONLY, greco is an open, you don't have to qualify, no one does.

Unit,
the dates you're asking about, Apr 12th & Apr 13th-
that is JUNIOR STATE GRECO ( Sat) and JUNIOR STATE FS ( Sun)
so it's for Juniors, although Cadets who are in HS can compete there as well...

Do Juniors have to qualify for the state tourney for either the Greco or Freestyle? If you made to the state high school state are you an auto qualifier? Thanks

Haven't seen any info on it yet, other than it's on the USA calendar.

Last year state was at Augsburg College.

Section1;

JUNIOR STATE GRECO - Augsburg College Sat April 12
JUNIOR STATE FS - " " " " Sun April 13
(Cadets may wrestle as well if they in HS- at least 9th grade)

one weigh in if you do both; so if you pay for both and weigh-in Sat
and wrestle Greco; then you can sleep in a bit and wrestle
FS without a 2nd weigh-in ;)

KID'S /CADETS Greco State - Rochester, Mn Friday May 2
KID'S / CADETS FS State - " " " " Sat-Sun May 3, 4th
