We were at the Anoka Freestyle Qualifier yesterday. They had approximately 360 wrestlers. Anoka did a great job! Registration, weigh-ins, pairing, and announcing ran smoothly. The only area that would need improvement is the lack of volunteer table workers and officials from other clubs...this is not Anoka's fault...they had plenty of volunteers for a host club.

How was the Burnsville Freestyle Qualifier? How many wrestlers registered?

Forest Lake is hosting a Greco Open & Freestyle Qualifier this coming weekend (4/25 & 4/26)...we are anticipating a large turn-out. We'll see you all on Friday for Greco and Saturday for Freestyle.

A PLUS to Anoka. They did a fantastic job of insuring decent sized brackets for most everyone. MOSTLY 5-8 man brackets. They went to the 10%??? rule rather than 5 lbs which was great. (Esp since there is a 7lb difference for SB up at state...) They started on time, and it went quickly.

One other tourney we went to could have done that, but instead they had multiple 2 man brackets. Not much fun, exp when they could have combined, base on weights....kids come to opens to get mat time and improve. Getting matches and possibly wrestling kids you normally wouldn't, is always a plus. The key is learing at opens, can't do much of that with one match.

Great JOB Anoka.

Wholeheartedly agree with the compliments to Anoka. The tournament was very well organized and clipped along nicely and, as said in previous remarks, mostly 8-man brackets. Job well done . . . really well done.

I think Burnsville had around 250 kids. Most of the brackets were 4-6 but there were a couple that had 8. Overall it ran smoothly and people stepped up to volunteer at tables and to Ref. Some of the Refs were a little rusty but overall did a nice job.

Overall Anoka tourny ran great. Had a problem with the announcing. Seemed like the announcer was complaining about the table workers constantly. Felt sorry for the table workers. I had such a headache when I got home, wouldn't it be nice if the tourny's could be run with little use of the loud speakers?

I thought the Anoka tournament went well, too. I agree with the comment on the announcing, however. It was SO loud! you could not even talk to the person next to you let alone coach a wrestler on the mat. Also - he was shouting into the mic. (I think that's why they have a PA - so you don't have to shout).

Wow! Did I have a headache after listening to that all day...
