Which natls? Kids? Cadets and Jrs? Differnet rules...
Kids you have to go to Northern Plains, then you can go to Natls.
Hopefully they will have a link up soon to register for Northern Plains.
Cadets and Jrs...a lot more complicated...Ask CWillert.

Anyone who competes at the state tournament is eligible to attend Northern Plains.

So, if I understand correctly, State has nothing to do with Nationals. Do you even need to participate in State to go to Northen Plains? What's the point in qualifiying for and competing in State, if you can just sign up for the regional qualifier?

My family is new to Freestyle, and I'm trying to get a better understanding of how this works. Can anyone give me a detailed description of the process the road to Nationals for Kids Freestyle/Greco? This process is not laid out very nicely on the MN/USA Website (though it would be nice).

According to the Northern Plains Flier:

"All KIDS and CADETS RESIDING IN A NORTHERN PLAINS REGION STATE (as listed in this flyer) MUST HAVE QUALIFIED according to their state policy in order to compete in the regional championships. Contact your state director for qualification information."

The state of Minnesota says that in order for you to qualify for Northern Plains you must compete in the MN/USA State Tournament.

Here is the Hiearchy of qualifying: (kids)

--Must compete and place in an open tournament to qualify for state.
--Must WRESTLE at MN/USA state to qualify for northern plains.
--Must Wrestle at Northern plains to qualify for Nationals in Utah.

My understanding of the registration process is you have to fill out the form and wavier an send that to the MNUSA kids director with your entry money and he has to send it in to northern plains, on th event flyer it says no individual entries accepted.
The flyer is available on themat.com

Is this link posted yet?
The registration form for Northern Plains?
In the past they had them available at state, and you could fill them out right then and there, and it was very convienient. They didn't do that this year though so I am assuming they will psot the link soon. I also verified it with Roger Kingsley, and ANYONE who participated in state, either style, can attend NP in either or both styles.

You have to print off the registration and waiver fill them out an enclose your registration fee and send it to the kids director(listed on the flyer) the director sends in all the registrations, that is what is stated on the flyer.

You can just wrestle the Greco tournament and compete at northern plains. Then you wouldn't need to attend a qualifier :)
