First you have to attend the camp, thats a requirement. I think the only people guaranteed a spot are returning All-Americans, state champs, and any top 3 finisher are a Regional tournament (like Northern Plains or Vegas). And everyone one else has to earn their spot at camp, usually 4 kids a weight. Hope that helps.

If you have a USA wrestling card or participated in a tourney you should get an invite.

when you say "Storm Cadet team", are you referring to the team of Cadets that goes to Cadet Duals ? ( there is no camp for that-)

or, are you asking about the Storm Cadet wrestlers who go to Fargo ?
(there IS a mandatory camp for that)

if you are asking about Duals, then contact the Cadet Directors Jim Moulsoff- if you participated at State, the Cadet coaches probably already know who you are- but his name and contact info should be on the mn/usa website

Qualification for Cadet Teams:

Duals- only the state champion is guarenteed a spot on one of the teams. All other spots are chosen by the coaching staff. They will be calling you if they think you could fill a spot on one of the dual teams. FYI- If you wrestled both styles at state you would have a better chance of getting a phone call for duals.

Fargo- Place top 3 at a CADET regional tournament and you are on the team for sure providing you attend and complete the training camp that precedes the national tournament. The Western regional (Las Vegas) would not count as a qualifier for the cadet team, as the western regional is juniors only. Northern plains is coming up in a couple weeks. GO TO IT! Get your name out there and noticed by the coaches. Anyone with a MN/USA Card should get invited to the camp. If you are not a top 3 placer at a cadet regional, you can still make the team by attending the training camp in the middle of July and possibly wrestling off for your spot. THE MORE AUTOMATIC QUALIFIERS WE HAVE- THE BIGGER OUR TEAM IS!

PS- Our juniors team already has about 20 automatic qualifiers in each style. This means we have 20 guys that will be wrestling in fargo that do not count against the maximum number of roster positions. Hopefully the cadets will do the same and have a bunch of automatic qualifiers.

Northern plains isn't the ONLY auto qualifier for the top 3 placers...

Do you have a list of possible other regionals kids could go to to get auto qualified?

Some are easier than others I heard... I agree, it would be a heck of a lot less stressful to be auto qualified, plus than MN can bring a TON more kids. Sounds like a very smart move for EVERY cadet to at least go to Northern plains...since it is so close...

Will they be posting a list somewhere of all the kids registered for Northern Plains?

You are correct, Northern Plains is not the only regional for cadets. I thought someone had mentioned earlier that you could qualify for cadet fargo by going to the western regional in Las Vegas and that is not the case. I am sorry if I made it sound like No. Plains in the only option, it isn't. In fact, here are your options to qualify for cadet nationals in fargo. (after attending the training camp of course)

--Central Regional Championships- Columbus, OH May 23-25

--Southeast Cadet Regional- Duluth, GA May 23-25

--Northeast Cadet Regional- Binghamton, NY May 30-31 (Same Day as Minnesota storm cadet minicamp)

-- Northern Plains Cadet Regional- Grand Forks, ND June 5-7

--Southern Plain Cadet Regional- Hays, KS June 12-14

--West Cadets Regional- Pocatello, ID June 15-21

To answer your last question, they usually have an updated list of registered participants on trackwrestling. Not sure when they start to post them however.

Cadets can get a roster exemption at any Cadet regional...top 3 in the particular style gets them an exemption in that style. Same goes for Juniors at the Junior Regionals.

There are no automatic spots. If a kid doesn't bust his butt at camp and do what the coaches ask/expect of him he won't be wrestling at Fargo regardless of how high he places in a regional or state tournament.

The only roster exemptions that exist are through those regional tournaments. MN has typically granted spots to state champs in their respective styles and returning AA's (same weight and age group) without requiring them to wrestle-off for a spot. But they do still need to work hard and do what is asked of them.

Northern Plains was this past weekend. I believe there is only one left...can't remember where off the top of my head though. Wyoming or Washington maybe?

--Rocky Mountain Junior Regional ---Pueblo, CO May 16-17

--Central Junior Regional --- Columbus, OH May 23-25

--Southeast Junior Regional --- Duluth, GA May 23-25

--Southern Plains Junior Regional --- Hays, KS June 12-14

This is the remaining list of Junior Regional tournaments that are available to anyone who wishes to attend.

Generally the coaches and directors try to send out camp information to everyone with a 2008 MN/USA wrestling card.

Even if you attend the camp and do not make the team to go to fargo, the camp by itself is well worth the money you will be paying to attend. Making the team and wrestling in fargo is the bonus that comes after hard work and your committment to summer wrestling!
