What is the deadline for Northern Plains entry? And don't we just register by mail?

It is by mail, however, you need to send in your application/waiver/money to the director(Cadet or Kids) and then they will send it in. I did not see a deadline.. good question.

Northern Plains has to go thru MN/USA wrestling....You can get the registration form for the tournament on the link above. Then you can send it to one of 3 places. On the brochure are the addresses for Roger Kingsley (Kids) and Jim Moulsoff (Cadets). You can mail your form and Medical waivers to the appropriate division director OR you can mail them to Me. I am handeling this tournament registration for MN/USA this year. Another option, if you are a cadet, is to bring it to a Cadet practice at Augsburg (if you are a cadet) There you can give it to Coach Moulsoff or myself.

The postmark date to either one of the directors or myself is May 22nd or you can bring it to Augsburg by May 27th. That gives me just enough time to put together the report I need to do and get it to ND on time.

My address is:
Darla Kelliher
14709 Summit Oaks Dr.
Burnsville, MN 55337

I am going to try and be at as many Cadet practices as I can between now and 5/27.

Please remember that in order to qualify for this tournament, you must have wrestled in the MN/USA State tournemant in Rochester a few weeks ago (either Greco and/or Freestyle).

Hope that helps,

Darla Kelliher

One more important thing....Make the Checks out to MN/USA Wrestling and we will send one big check to ND.

Thanks again,

Carrie will be posting them on the MN/USA website as soon as I give her the list. I am compiling it today and still have to connect with Roger to get those that have been mailed to him....again I expect to do that today. So within the next couple of days you should see something. In the meanwhile, if you would like to email mail me directly, I can look and see if I have it yet...but again, if you mailed it to Roger, you have to give me until tonight to get them from him. Also

One the forms that were handed out at Augsburg, I said that they could be turned in at practice on the 27th....Memorial Day.....as far as I understand there is no practice....so Wednesday the 29th will be fine even if there is practice on Monday.

Can anyone confirm practice on monday or not?

Thanks

Just a quick reminder to get those forms it....at any division...if your son/daughter plans on wrestling at Northern Plains. I have extended the deadline for "Walk-Ins" to the Augsburg Cadet/Junior Practice to Wednesday, May 29th as there is no practice on Monday (I think) because of Memorial Day. If you are planning on mailing your form, please mail it to me at:

Darla Kelliher
14709 Summit Oaks Dr.
Burnsville, MN 55337

Remember that the cost is $30 per style per wrestler so that would be $60 for a wrestler that plans on wrestling both styles. Please make the checks out to MN/USA wrestling as we have to write one big check to USA in ND

If you have any questions, you can email me at darlakelliher@aol.com

also, there is a list on the MNUSA website of those that I, Roger or Jim have received thru Thursday's mail. Please verify your information to make sure that it is correct.

Thanks

Darla

I was looking at teams registered and unless they are not completely updated and ready yet (could be the case), MN has the majority of wrestlers. Shouldn't ND have a large contingent? Wondering if the location of Natls has anything to do with it. However, it shouldn't! NP is a great tourney in and of itself, regardless of whether or not you plan ongoing to natls. It is the only tourney that cross-brackets top 4 kids, Natls should, but doesn't...and gives a TRUE picture of the 2nd place kid, not luck of bracketing. Plus it is an extra match!

My question: If a bracket is extremely low, can you bump up a weight class for 1 of the 2 styles, and still go the lower weight for both styles at Natls? Reason would be for more (numbers wise) competition at NP, and still go lower weight for Natls.

It's not likely that many of the wisconsin kids are entered yet. I find it hard to beleive that they would go from 200+ at NP to 9.

The numbers are still incredibly low....I sure hope something drastic happens over the next couple of days.

Talk about fair weather fans! WI only goes if they are hosting? Whats up with that? they have 53 kids listed? (down from 200 PLUS, that is 1/4th participation) That is horrible, talk about NOT supporting your region when it leaves YOUR state....I certainly hope they add more kids. They have always had strong numbers when they host.

ND has 1 kid listed, I am certain they haven't registered their kids yet. It is in their backyard, they have to have good numbers...and NE has no one? Is that possible? Or have they not registered either?

Maybe MN numbers are down due to gas prices or kids NALTS being in Utah..However, they still TRUMP everyone else in terms of numbers. And every cadet should be going, so they can free up more numbers for fargo.

...that's what I was thinking exactly....its great for my kid...his Grandparents only live 100 miles away and it will be the first time they see him wrestle. It would be tragic if he had nobody in his weight class....maybe we could pick a fight in the parkiing lot... :D

I would guess North Dakota and Nebraska aren't yet entered. Nebraska sent 31 to Iowa last year and North Dakota had 24 at Iowa...I'm sure they will have bigger numbers than that as the home state.
Minnesota already has 143 signed up versus 120 last year.
South Dakota has 18 signed up versus 4 last year.
Illinois has 74 this year versus 129 last year... not bad considering the distance.
Wisconsin has 53 this year versus 106 last year. Nationals are no longer in Wisconsin, but that still seems low.
Iowa is at 28 this year versus 91 last year... it was an embarrasing turnout for them last year, why should it be any different this year.

I just got off the phone with Bruce Moe the tournament director. He says not to worry.....track wrestling has not been updated with all the entires as they continue to trickle in....probably only 40% completed He says there will be at least 120 kids from North Dakota in the tournament. Track wrestling will be updated completely on June 2nd.

Click on track wrestling
click on Northern Plains
click on "teams"
each state has their numbers listed, then you can click on a specific division, and it will tell you who your kids competition is, by division and weight registered at.

I am hoping with ND and hopefully NE will send some kids, the numbers will be decent. I am dissappointed with WI and IA numbers though.

The final list for Northen Plains for Minnesota is on the MN/USA website. Please check over your wrestlers information (Division, Weight, Style(s)) and make sure they are correct.

Thanks, Darla

I saw the following quote on DakotaGrappler ... "Right now I have 132 entries from ND. I have not entered the info yet, BECAUSE... I am still waiting for those that wait until the last possible minute to get the information to me."

I just went to the South Dakota message board and one thread stated that they had 21 entries for Northern Plains and that was a good number...Yikes??? I though South Dakota was a big wrestling state.

South Dakota bla bla bla. Someones blowing smoke. After so many years of getting beat by Canby they gave up on wrestling.
