This is a seperate debat from where people thought Marcus LeVesseur should have gone to college. If LeVesseur had gone to the U of M, and was maybe a 2 or 3 time national champion D1, do you think his MMA career would be moving a lot faster with more national recognition? |

I don't know if he would have won it three times but if he did I'm sure he would be touted as major talent. I'm not even sure if he could have won the title 2 times. |

Personally I think he would have won it all MAYBE just once, (4xAA) and marginally made a difference in his MMA career... |

I am not sure it would have gotten him a whole lot further. Johnny Hendricks and Jared Rosholt won 5 titles between them and they still have not made it big in MMA as of yet. Give them time though! Rosholt is the biggest 185 pounder there is. |

First, I'm not sure he'd have ever won a DI title. I think he'd been a AA atleast a couple of times and couldn't have been rules out as a contender but I think he would have been just short of DI Champ material. As far as MMA goes: No, I don't think it would have made any difference if he was a Div I or Div III champ. MMA and wreslting are still far enough apart that being good at on doesn't mean you will be equally as good at the other. So, generally I don't think it makes any difference as far as how fast his MMA career goes. I think the only diffence would have been if a guy like Cael Sanderson or Dan Gable who was a living wrestling legend or olympic medalist. Lesnar's carrer is moving quicker not because he was a national champion but because he is very famous from his time @ WWE. Plus, he's a physical freak. |

Where does Marcus train? If its not the MMA Academy I am surprised he hasn't gotten an invite to train with them yet. That would make the world of difference if he trained with say someone like Sherk. I wonder what the next weight will be for TUF? If it is LW, does Marcus get the call from Dana and Co.? |

I'm not talking about skill level. I'm talking about the opportunity to participate in a much bigger fight, simply because he would carry a bigger candle being a DI cahmpion. MMA is a lot like boxing, where promotion plays a big part in determining larger opportunities. Kimbo Slice is a prime example. Here is a guy who was given a chance based on his popularity. |

I don't think he likes to lose: that why no U of M, that why never wrestles/wrestled at Bison Open, that why never wrestles Senior Nationals or Olympic trials. He did try University nationals and won but did not do so well at worlds and suprise, never wrestled University nationals again. That is also why he will not be in the UFC. |

I don't think he likes to lose. That is my opinion and I don't think there is anything wrong with that. I did not say he does not like to lose but "I" don't think he likes to lose. I even stated reasons why I feel that way. If you feel otherwise, you can state that and your reasoning for your opinion just like I did. By the way snowleopard22, I lost my senior year for true second and did not make it to the state tournament. Maybe I will wrestle at the Bison this year so I can say I have done something Mr. LeVesseur has not :) Also, it is "they're" not "there". |

I just think it was a stupid statement. You don't think he will be in the UFC because he didn't do a couple of wrestling tournaments. I don't even know why you bring up the Bison, he probably would have won that. |

Were you saying marcus never wrestled at the Bison? Because he did his true freshman year him and Jared lawrence were co champs.....by the way Marcus looked really tough at 149. I cant say 100% sure why he transfered but i doubt it was because he didnt want tough competition. I do hope we see marcus make it in mma would love to see him on spike or pay per view |

I"m going to agree with vikfan to the EXTENT of that marcus doesnt like to lose. thats it! And if any of you disagree with that your all mental. Of course Marcus doesn't like to lose, who does? Nobody loses and goes "hey i had so much fun out there" But vikefan your implying that marcus is scared then your crazy. Marcus is an insanely good wrestler AND fighter...hes fast...like really really fast. Anyways about Marcus and MMA...Marcus is a good fighter, dont get me wrong...but MMA and wrestling are still two VERY different sports....while i believe that wrestling is probably one of the best foundations for MMA there is....dont forget there are alot of different aspects to MMA...you cant just take shots like in collegiate or freestyle wrestling, because they can and will knee you right in the face...and probably put you out, a wrestlers greatest strength is usually in tight or on the ground. but you gotta get your guy there first...being a good wrestler does NOT make you a good striker...and a good striker will keep his distance and work you like a punching bag. Truth be told a great wrestler like marcus PROBABLY still needs time to develop into a better MMA fighter (were talking UFC here, NOT what he has been doing, hes more than above average locally....at that level hes sick) UFC and the local cage fights are like comparing highschool wrestling to college, D3 to D1, basketball to well...wrestling. I've been training for MMA now and Im telling you, its a different game, greco is what actually helps me the most. I think thats why couture was able to make the transition so smoothly.....marcus who was more adept at freestyle/folkstyle might have a rougher road....but i wont be surprised at all if i ever see him step into the octagon of UFC 95 or something...hes a beast. also dont forget that more and more cage fighters are past BAMFs in wrestling....so the wrestling edge that a wrestler would have in the cage is now thinning, it comes down whos got better striking and submission skills.... |

Marcus is fighting at my event 7/19 in Fargo. i have a ton of respect for him as a wrestler and as a fighter. He has more natural talent than anyone I know. He could certainly use some rounding out, but he's done well adding a solid striking aspect to his amazing wrestling. Huerta did fine coming from Augsburg. I also have Volkmann and Jeremy Anderson on my card...in addition to Tuchscherer. Great card in all. I'd appreciate all that can go to attend...I put a lot into doing these and doing them well You can visit www.maxfights.net We also have Dan Gable doing a seminar for us as well. "If you've been to one of our events before, you know the kind of treat you're in for. Chris Tuchscherer returns to Fargo after a great showing in his pay per view debut on Yamma's 8 man heavyweight tournament. Chris is bound for the big time, so it's a real treat to be able to watch him back home again while we still can. Chris will be taking on 37-8 Chris Guillen of Amarillo, TX. Guillen holds 2 wins over UFC vet, Wes Sims, and has also been in the cage against UFC vets, Heath Herring and Shane Carwin. Both of these heavyweights have the same goals in mind, and they're in each other's way....something's got to give Returning to Fargo from Rio De Janeiro, Brazil will be World BJJ champion, Daniel Otero, to face currently ranked 6th in the World, Sam Thao. This will be for the flyweight title. In a lightweight challenger elimination bout (for the right to fight for the belt currently held by Kyle Jensen), Marcus Levesseur (see video clip below) will be facing a to be named opponent. Marcus is a 4x national wrestling Champion and was undefeated his entire collegiate career. 3x U of MN all-American, Jacob Volkmann, will be facing Joe Keaveny, who has been known for his exciting stand up but has also recently shown a much improved ground game as well. Caleb Quinn will represent the MN Martial Arts Academy with his excellent Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu will take on MAX Fights staple, Zack Schroeder (also see clip below). Zack is an explosive stand up fighter and very good wrestler. He showed just how well rounded he is by arm-barring Brian Strain last April. Zach Thumb, who easily handled a 50 fight veteran, who outweighed him by nearly 80 lbs in our last event will face ND native, John Kelly. Just added to the card will be national wrestling champ from Augsburg college, Jeremy Anderson, who will be cornered by former UFC middleweight champ, Dave Menne. He will be facing the 1-0 Lee Barnett of Fargo. 2x MAX Fights fight of the night winner, Jessi Evans, will take on Fargo's own, Marshall Martin. Two of Fargo's best 155lb fighters square off and jocky for a shot at the title. Tyler Larson (former EFX champ) vs. Pablo Garza just added to the card...a couple of very exciting fighters Just added to the card is Preston Engstrom of Fargo vs. Andy Przekwas of Roseau at 170lbs More fights to be added and finalized soon. The Jag girls will once again be there as ring girls in addition to former MS Teen ND, Taylor Kearns, and Rachel Stearns. We've timed the event to take place while the huge influx of wrestlers are in town for junior nationals, so this one should sell out fast. We've decided to give a discount to those that buy in advance. So, $5 off for advance purchase. Tickets should be on sale 6/11 through www.ticketmaster.com or (701)235-7171 For more information, call (701)212-2945 or (701)367-6592 www.maxfights.net to see our previous fight cards, read and contribute to our forum and get all the latest news Doors open at 6:30pm and fights start at 7:30pm" |

He got TKO'ed by Tom Belt. Taken down and pounded out. It was on an Adrenaline card. There is no video available of it that I can find but here are some pics: http://www.combatlifestyle.com/pics/view_album.php?id=961 p.s. Maybe you should change your screen name to, 'uninformed,' as this is old news. ;) |

Odds are that if Marcus spent 5 seasons at the U he would have ended his career with bad knees, shot shoulders and a desire to take a long needed break |

I can't believe that Marcus lost to this guy. Is he still fighting jensen in Fargo? Where does this leave his fight career? I would think he would be a pretty big 155 but this guy looks much bigger - doesn't he? I hope he can come back strong - did he take this fight on short notice? :ph43r: |

I'm not sure how tall marcus is but I know Tom Belt is bout 6-1 maybe 6-2 and form what I understand walks around at about 185-190 when he's not cutting weight. I'd imagine that's a lot bigger than Marcus is. |
