I just went to track wrestling and did a quick look up on what is going on this weekend. It appears Western Kids/Cadet Freestyle regional is being held in Idaho this weekend. There are currently 1061 kids signed up.

Is this the norm for this region or is it because Nationals is held in Utah this year? Maybe a little more incentive for the kdis to extend their season? Or does freestyle/greco normally draw these types of numbers in this region.

I looked at this event flyer and it has folkstyle sessions, do they run folkstyle regional this late? Also this event runs from Mon. to Sat., maybe these two factors are why so many kids are there?

I have a very good friend from Montana whose son does all the FS/GR stuff. He said it is a direct coorelation to Natls being held in Utah. Typically, Northern Plains draws the highest numbers, because in the last few years, kids natls has been in WI. Wherever Kids Nalts are, that region will draw the best numbers. Some kids from MN didn't go to NP because they can't swing the insane 18 hr each way drive or plane tickets to UT...Personally, I would go to a regional tourney, regardless of my plans for Nalts. They are great tourneys in and of themselves.
