BLH additions that were there on the second day of practice last week:
Junior Evan Ludowese
Freshman Josh Mellies
Freshman Cory Peterson

Don't know anything about them other than Ludowese is a solid athlete. Good catcher in baseball and was a good linebacker(?) before he got hurt in week six.

Another fine season is upon us!!!
Here are the first duels for section 2AA this week. Did I miss any?

Someone care to match these 4 teams? crusader wrestling?

Dec 5 Fri Dassel-Cokato at Hutchinson, Hutchinson High School

Dec 5 Fri Saint Peter at Watertown-Mayer, Watertown-Mayer High School

I don,t know about you people but I cought myself smiling in the mirror this morning :D

Here is my best guess...which isn't good:
103: No. 4 Nick Clobes (H) vs No. 3 Max Anderson (DC)
112: Bobby Rasmussen (H)? vs Spencer Broberg (DC)
119: Lucas Ferrian (H) vs Brandon Fiedler (DC)
125: Tyler Becker (H) vs no clue
130: Evan Ludowese (H)? vs Tyler Dobmeier (DC)
135: Jordan Hansen (H) vs Marcus Wanha (DC)
140: Ethan Smith (H) vs Dan Wanha (DC)
145: Cody Mandersheid (H) vs Brendon Opsahl (DC)
152: No. 4 Ryan Madson (H) vs Tyler Irvin (DC)
160: Mason Anderson (H) vs no clue
171: Mike Schlueter (H) vs no clue
189: Kyle White (H) vs no clue
215: Dylan Robinson (H) vs Sam Pokornowski (DC)
285: Wes Corrigan (H) vs Brient Pokornowski (DC)

Like I said, I'd be happy if I get five weight classes right. I'm giving my best guesses where the DC kids ended up after last year. For Hutch, I have no clue where really anybody is starting minus Clobes and probably Corrigan up top.

Here is what I posted earlier this week....
After talking with a few people, I would say switch Rasmussen and Ferrian and possibly Becker at 119. We'll have to see Friday.

Not too likely any of these 3 will ever see 112 and not 119 this week.

2AA 119 is looking ugly! (in a good way)

Fleming
Z. Friederich
Stangret
Rydell
Redding

Did I miss anyone?

I know for a fact Rydell is going down to 112 at end of year. Right now he is sitting at 117 so he will be down there soon so not to worry 112 just got tougher

I think alot of kids grew bigger than every one thought they might.

Who at what?

Well Stangret walked around at 140 in september 119 might be tough to make? I,m shure thier are more kids in section 2 aa that grew not everyone starves themselfs year round!!

I curious
OK then.....lets ask him!

So Mr. Eli Stangret, what weight are you going to finish the season at? What's your thoughts?

 That didn't get you anything......

Read the Patriot today and Waconia wrestling preview. Coach Wagner says Stangret will wrestle 140 for the team this year. Heard he won his wrestle off with Herman this week and he will be at 135 for up comming individual tournament.

Coach Wagner thinks the Wildcats will contend for the Wright County conference title this year and sees his team as final four material for the year end section team tournament.

Also it looks like SW is alread looking to stake claim to another 2AA title. Delano and Hutchison both had good starts. I know alot of team are not to be counted out, and teams have kids trying to find thier spots. Its going to be intresting to see how teams progress threw the season!!!

Four-team quad in Hutch Friday. Other teams competing are Scott West, Mankato East and New Ulm. This was a competiive quad a year ago in New Ulm - NU squeaked by Hutch while the Tigers squeaked by East.

It looks like Scott West (3-0), Hutchinson (2-1) and then New Ulm and Mankato East pretty even in their dual.

Anybody have any comments? Can either the Eagles or Cougars hang with Hutch? I'm looking forward to a possible Ryan Madson/Tyler Kivel matchup. Maybe Nick Clobes and Lee Goldberg.

East got their feet wet last weekend in Rochester, and they did alright. There not "world beaters" by any stretch of the imagination, but there learning. Like in years past, we maybe short just a couple of guys, but not short on heart. Should be interesting against New Ulm, I think Hutch might squeak this one out and Scott West , oh well, there just plain good.

Kivel/Madson match will be a good one, might be worth the trip to Hutch. Any idea of the time of the SW/Hutch Dual?

Heard last Sat. Madson/Poikonen match was a good one, with Madson pulling out a 1-0 victory in the end (wished I could of seen the match). I hope Madson/Kivel/Poikonen spread out, as all three are excellent wrestlers and would do very well at state at 140/145 or 152.

I don't see a Madson/Kivel match being very close. I would say Kivel by 6 or more. I just don't think Madson has the offense to push Kivel.

I would think Ryan would go down to 145 for sections. I think that is his plan for Big Bear as well.

Didn't see the Madson/Poikonen match, but Madson got a third period escape for the win.

As for the time, I believe Hutch and Scott West are wrestling last - I'll check on that today.

I don't think we can take too much stock in early season matches when not everyone is in wrestling shape. That's why you see so many upsets early in the season.
The end of the season matches are by far more exciting to watch.
Some guys have been wrestling and practicing all fall and most of the guys have been playing football or not doing much at all besides lifting.

I was impressed with St. Peter team last week during the WML dual. I think they have a couple of holes in thier line up that will tighten up after the first of the year. I thought thier guys looked pretty trimed up and ready to go. I asked the coach what was in the water in St. Peter, as they look more like a basketball team, long and lanky. They know how to use thier legs and that won them some matches. There was also blood time in just about every match except for a couple and it was always one of our WML wrestlers walking over to the trainers table, so you know they can wrestle physical too.

that is a good EDUCATED GUESS. ;) i believe that it is going to be that close, each team has some holes and depends on who comes out to wrestle that night. Going to come down to bonus points which i think will go in MLLC's favor. So I am going to swap ur scores

Who knows you could be right, just a quick survey of the two tournaments each team was in, I guess I did notice MLLC was pretty lean between 130 to 160 or so. Two guys i didn't see were Matt Lloyd ( sp) and Mike Jindra. Maybe St. Peter does have a chance, two kids at the lightweights I haven't noticed before. 12 pounder handled the Rutt girl pretty easy and thats no easy task.
