I am a neutral 2AA fan and was over in Glencoe tonight. The seeding for this section was 100% accurate, and the 2 best teams met in the championship, and the best team came away with the title and will represent an extremely tough section at the X. SW was stronger than both NP and Hutch, and their convincing win in the finals proved that to be accurate. Good luck to SW in the state tournament, and to all individuals next weekend. Represent 2AA well! |

No, it was 23-23 going into 220. Hutch sent out Filk and NP sent out a jv guy. Fall Filk. NP then sent out Preston for the fall and the tie against #2 ranked VanderHeiden. Preston won 4-3. It seemed odd since Nathan has beat Filk twice, and LaFavor will be the #1 seed on Friday. |

Was looking at the rankings and there will be a couple of good wrestlers going home without going to state that day at that weight class. That's why at times the sections were like college you could add a few wildcards at certain weight classes. |

Lafavor hasn't lost to any other HWT. Since he beat every HWT in the section he wrestled. I don't see a HWT that would be seeded ahead of him. It is kind of interesting that New Prague did the same thing Hutch did last year and it back fired. Last year Hutch bumped up Filk to HWT and lost the dual and this year New Prague bumped up Preston and lost it. Filk beat Preston at Individuals then, wonder if Lafavor will do the same that Filk did. |

Some of you may know this, some may not so here is how and when the seeding process works... The seeding process is the same for all 3 classes The top 5 teams will be seeded and the opponents for the remaining 3 teams will be chosen by lottery draw. Each of the 8 head coaches in each class will submit an electronic ranking for the qualifying teams in his class (excluding his own team). He will assign a rank of 1-7 with 1 for his highest ranked team and 7 his lowest. The highest and lowest rank for each team will be discarded, leaving 5 ranks for each team. The scores will then be tabulated and the appropriate seedings assigned. If a tie occurs, the votes placed by the schools not involved in the tie will be used to determine the higher seed. Head coaches will join on a conference call with Craig Perry, MSHSL Tournament Director, and a member of the Wrestling Coaches Association Executive Committee. That conference call will take place on TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 18th. Class AAA Conference Call is at 8:30 am, Class AA Conference Call is at 9:00 am and the Class A Conference Call is at 9:30 am. The Conference Call will be used to confirm the top 5 seeded teams and then begin the lottery draw. The 4th seeded team will wrestle the 5th seeded team. The opponents for the top 3 teams will then be drawn. The first team drawn will wrestle the #3 seed. The second team drawn will wrestle the #2 seed. The third team drawn will wrestle the #1 seed. Tournament brackets will then be made public, so we should know by mid-morning on Tuesday! |

My guess is that NP didnt feel with Preston's conditioning he could go six minutes with Filk. Your assistants knew you had the tie breaker so the dice were rolled that Preston could over power in the first minute. He went for it just didnt have it once it went to the second period. |

I don't agree with what the NP coaches did, all I'm saying is that there is no way they made their decision because of seeds the following weekend. |

Preston is a real good, experienced wrestler but being asked to wrestle HWT, he give up a lot of weight and with his recent injury his conditioning was just not there. A gamble that on hind sight was not the best. :-/ Hind sight is worth a million dollars....but they have to pay more to see mine !!!! :D Good luck at state SW. :P |
