Here are a couple of spread sheets for 2014-2015 similar to what Iowan did for section 1A. All of these are based on the 2013-2014 section and state info listed on the Guillotine. The first sheet shows returning starters listed by weight. The second shows returning starters by town. Now we just have to wait and see what weight these kids end up at to start the 2014-2015 year and who the backups from last year are who can step up and fill in for the departing seniors. Hutch and Scott West really lost a lot! They are both very good programs and I am sure will be strong again next spring. Jim

sheet 1 by last years weight:

sheet 2 by town:

WM/ML is leaving the MRC. They are headed back to the wright county conference starting in the fall of 2015. Not sure about this being the last year for the conference. It wouldn't surprise me if it was. When you only have 5 teams in the conference and none of them are close to being on the same level as SW, it makes sense to not have a conference schedule.

I would put money St Peter applying or being invited to join the MRC. Pretty sure they'd rather be there than in a conference where they have to drive two hours for some conference meets like they will this year. They applied a couple years ago but were turned down. Time will tell.

My brother coaches up in Norwood which is apart of the river conference. He asked the AD up there and he said the conference has no plans to add another team. With football not being a conference sport anymore, having a unbalanced schedule is no longer a problem. Besides what would St. Peter do with all of the other sports the other smaller schools in the conference don't have? Just have the MSHSL make districts for all sports and do away with conferences. Problem would be solved.

Here is my best guess for how the section teams will be ranked at the end of the year. The hard part to guess is who has is able to best fill their graduated varsity wrestlers spots with quality JV kids.

1 NP
2 SW
3 Watertown
4 Waconia
5 Hutch
6 GSLP
7 TCU
8 Delano
9 St. Peter
10 MW
11 ME
12 Chaska

I think you got no#12 picked correctly

seeings as they don't have enough kids to fill each weight now or anytime in the near or distant Future.

Maybe have a few kids that may fight for a state berth if they can stay healthy.

Very nice. Wouldn't it be great if someone volunteered to keep lists for every section and class? I'm going to try to do all three classes of section 1 this year. I've done 1AAA for 4-5 years and it's actually a lot more work than you'd think. I can't even imagine how much work it is for the guys that do the whole state.

After looking at the spreadsheet of returning starters from the 2013-2014 season from Jim. Here's a list of those starters with a .500 record or better by team.

W-M (8)
NP (6)
Hutch (5)
SW (5)
Waconia (5)
Dalano (4)
GSL (4)
St. Peter (4)
MW (3)
Chaska (2)
ME (1)

As you can see SW and Hutch may have lost some seniors but still have a solid core and I'm sure will fill the other weights.

Just waiting for somebody to break the ice. We know a little about those who are returning. Anyone from last year JV who will be stepping it up? Any new comers who could take 106 by storm?

Waconia gets back Mason Hemze who was injured last year and Garrett Vos at 106 will be tough.

I think Waconia will be tough this year BUT, they have to find a 195, 220 and a heavyweight. Gluck did a good job for them last year at 195 but is only listed at 185 on the football roster this year. They graduated Buffington and I believe Teeselink is not at Waconia this year. Jim

NYWA Champ as 8th grader, Rumble JV 8th place last year after losing 1st match to Njos 6-1, long road back. He's a 10th grader this year and has more weight to compete now.

Scott West will be solid down low with Tyler Shackle, Parker Huss, Justin and Jackson Stauffacher, Brendan Mackedanz, Ben Kelvington, Ryan Siegle, Carter Piche, Tony Dvorak, Tyler Buesgens, David Flynn, plus a load of other smaller kids. I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Flynn up at 152 in the beginning of the year. Scott West will be nails in the beginning of the line up but will be softer then normal the second half with the exception of Fogarty, and Schatz.

I know this will probably be off a lot but I'll throw out a line up for Scott West.

106-Justin Stauffacher
113- Parker Huss
120- Jackson Stauffacher
126- Ben Kelvington
132- Carter Piche
138- Ryan Siegle
145- David Flynn
152- Tyler Buesgens
160- Dillion Johnson
170- Andrew Fogerty
182- Ryan Menton
195- Luke Siemon
220- Tyler Grieves
HWT- Josiah Schatz

I agree! The only issue is getting them all in a lineup this year. They are going to be tough for next 3-4 years, if they spread out nicely.

Good news for CH/CH Slammin Sammy is coming back to wrestling he was and is an awesome athlete very strong and tough I think the team will give several head aches to some teams at least until we have to split up at sections Chaska has a new coach and the Chan coaches are very dedicated I am super pumped for this to begin cant wait till next weekend to see some Wrasslin Go Storm-Hawks.

Based on this line up for Scott West the most critical part will be Ryan Menton at 182. (I never thought Ryan would be mentioned in the G forum)

You think Flynn will be 145? And ironic to replace a state champ at 138 last year with another siegle

With Berg and Parriott at 138 and 145 from NP, I am guessing he will be 132. Not sure what he weighs right now.
