I know we are only a month into the season, but I thought I would toss out the question - who are the top four teams in 2AA right now? With it pretty slow the next 10 days, I thought this might rejump the talk on this thread.

I'll start:
Obviously Scott West is the top team right now, although I don't think they have an unbeatable team. I think my second team would be Hutchinson, who is solid from 103-160, but would give us some pts right now between 171-285.

Beyond them two, I guess Delano and New Prague would be my three-four. Delano really has had a non-competitive schedule since the opening date at STMA. I'm really inerested to see how they do against 2AA schools. New Prague is fairly solid up-down the lineup. Should be a good match between them and Hutch later this season.

What do others think?

Last year, during the team section tournament, I thought Delano was the 4th best team there, behind Scott West, Watertown and MLLC. They are not losing a lot this year (besides the big guy) and have a very solid core of eight wrestlers returning:

Seck-12th
Sowers-11th, 5th last year (very tough 119 bracket), was injured for 1/3 of season
Roth-12th
Hessing-11th, 2nd in sections, state particapant
Brasket-12th, 3rd in sections
Brasket-11th, 6th in sections
Bohler-12th, 3rd in sections
Dahl-12th, IDF in sections

They also finished second in the Wright County Conf. with a 7-1 record, 15-8 overall.

Ben Brasket 12 grade got maj. by Brian Redemske 9 grade 12-2

Hey Cledis:

Want to give us your opinion on where the individuals stack up after the first month of wrestling? I know you have a pretty good idea and are fairly objective. Who do you expect to make it to the big dance and who can pull off the upsets.

Thanks

Iowa guy: Did you understand the question tossed out by Hutchfan13? Who are the top four teams right now? Your reply: Ask me after Jan. 30? How 'bout we ask you on March 1? Think you'll have a better understanding then?
Right now, I'll go with SW, NP, Hutch and Delano.

My guess is he picked Jan. 30th because that's when MLLC wrestles Hutch and Delano!! Should be good duels!!

Well Mr. "Big E".
I did understand the question perfectly.

Obsessed With Wrestling knew exactly were I was coming from as to the January 30th reference with the Hutch, Delano and MLLC on the 30th and MLLC having a look at New Prague on the 8th.

So, yes, I will have a better look after January 30th and no, I will not need to wait till March 1st.
And for your information "Big E", Team Sections is on February 28th not March 1st.

Oh, you can go back to your old name now.

Iowa guy, which is it, December 30, January 30th or later? I doubt if Obsessed or anyone else knows exactly what you're talking about. By the way, I know when team sections are scheduled. I went with the March 1 date because I figured it would take you a day or two after the tournament to come up with your top four picks. Maybe I was giving you too much credit? Hutchfan13 is looking for your best guess today, not after the results have already been posted. And, I must have forgotten, what's the old name I should go back to?

Well "Big E" if you really must know what my thoughts are I will throw out my top 2 because it really doesn't matter what the top 4 is now does it. I hope one of these are your team.

Scott West
Delano

I don't see Delano in the hunt. I am impressed with New Prague. I would like to see Redding and Parriot wrestle a tough match though.

Delano might be in the hunt but don't see them getting past the semi's at best. not sure how they would fare against NP but I do beleive Hutch is second best in this section. NP has definatly turned some heads and improved this year. kudos to that program.

Redding has beaten 3 ranked kids so far - I would say those are tough kids.

Larson - Chaska - Beat by 7-8
Schultz - Owatonna - Major/Tech
Rydell - St. Peter - Pinned

So if a kid beats another good kid - then that makes them not good? Well - then I guess that David Thorn is terrible in with your measuring stick - because he got pinned by Kingsley? Maybe Redding is just that tough????

Lighten up Francis...I'm giving Aaron Kudos.
He should do well with Friederich on the 8th.

As far as the Thorn match with Kingsley, did you watch it? (that's another topic, PM me on that one)

Just looking at the New Prague schedule, Redding has the potential to have more than his share of tough matches from: MLLC, Scott West, Medford, Forest Lake Invite, Apple Valley Invite, Prior lake, WMLBO, PEM.

Lets see Redding and Parriot have been wrestling 119 & 125 respectively, hmm what other good wrestlers have been wrestling that weight, I know Nate and Zach from MLLC. Kradleking, whether you realize it or not Great Gamma is a big Nate an Zach fan. Probably related some how, who knows. So until these's four meet up, in some peoples eyes, they haven't wrestled anyone "good" yet, lol.

I really don't think it is that big of a deal. N. Friederich beat Redding at sections 10 to 1 and Z. Friederich defeated Parriot last year. So it's nothing more than a rematch if it happens.

no thats not a big deal at all. ;) depends on who put the time in during the off season and how much each wrestler improved over the past year. but then you can say that getting beat 10-1 you would need much improvement over a year to catch up to that certain wrestler. but hey...anythings possible :D

I hope not! I don't know any wrestler that is "humble". I think you are looking for a different word. Look it up...
