Sam Reyant has been out all season. Tore up his knee this year in football. Last year he beat Carter Piche 9-4 during the regular season but was out for sectionals due to illness.

In full disclosure...Piche came back to beat Sam in OT at the team sections...

I was looking forward to another battle at individuals.

Too bad he is out this year...He would make it more exciting.

Unfortunately it sounds like Sam still wants to play football again this fall. I believe Mankato West also lost a really good wrestler this year to a football injury. Maybe it is just me but it seems like wrestling loses more people to knee injuries in football then due to concussions. I know New Prague has lost three in the last six years (Jay Rienke, Nathan Preston, Sam Reyant).

Little birdy told me Knutson was on crutches a couple weeks ago in Watertown.. Seems doubtful, but the kid's tough! I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Logelin back. Cattle Catcher... Who's this third NP junior out with an injury? Reyent.. Logelin.. ???
Reyant, Logelin and Arguedas

At first I was wondering why you said unfortunately he wants to still play football. The best athletes are in more than one sport. And for every wrestler you lost to a football injury I could name one that was lost for a wrestling injury (only sport). Some of the Best wrestlers in the state of Minnesota were also Great football players Keegan Moore, Lance Bennick, Alex Hart but then I had to look up Sam's weight and I understand your concern. Everyone Loves to play football but that is THE sport where size Does matter. Too bad the New Prague vs Scott West dual will not be a Barn Burner like the past few have been. Good Luck to all!

No offense to Hutch or W/ML, but the two best teams are wrestling in the top half of semis!!
I have to agree, I guess that means we all better be to Hutch early to claim a seat for the dual!

Just a thought, love the Hutchinson high school but I wish there was a way to move the final four. Hundreds will not attempt to attend this event on Saturday and many will be left standing in the halls, they deserve to host but many won't. Attend, besides getting there two hours early what do you think. Sorry about the grammar, in a busy bumpy car

Wonder why Buesgens went up a weight? I would sure think Scott west would be better with him at 182, I would of thought that would of been a good match with parriott giving up 30 pounds.

Because he beats Schmitz. Put him at 182 and then SW potentially gives up pins at 182 and 195. Wonder why New Prague forfeited 220 & HWT. I would've liked to see those matches.

New Prague did not have heavy weight and 220 had pulled hamstring - no point in hurting it more when no chance to win - do not know why they did not wrestle Busgens against Griffin - they had dual in the bag.

My guess...a good opportunity for Buesgens to see Schmitz before individuals.

Mankato East which is a little bigger gym than Hutch. I'd get to Hutch early if you want a seat.

My guess - Why risk losing 12 points (pins at 182 and 195) when Buesgens can give up 13 lbs. and still win at 195? Net is 9 points in SW's favor.

Always seems like this time of year can get a little touchy and we start seeing more negative comments on here. I thought it might be a good time to remind everyone that these are kids and they have put in a ton of blood, sweat, and tears over the last three months. Please keep it positive. Good luck to everyone the rest of the season!

Parriott is one of the best wrestlers I've had the privilege of watching through many years. I'm from Scott West, and he's one of the hardest working, most competitive and nicest kids i know. Wish he would've been a Gopher.

I hate to say it but fans from both parties were brutal in Waconia tonight. Hopefully kinks can get worked out before Saturday. I was embarrassed to be a fan in that gym.

It is one person with Waconia that ruins it for all the fans. The rest of the Waconia parents are a tribute to the sport. Poor sportsmanship is an ugly thing, these are kids, not pro athletes.
