Congrats to SW they are always impressive and their ability to get bonus points and avoid giving bonus once again has them going to state. I agree with others that sportsmanship from many was lacking and it's sad to see. Hope it's better for individuals sometimes there just needs to be a reminder that these are kids out there and winning or loosing is not the end of the world. The tone as always is set by the fans and coaches and I truly hope the people involved take a look at how they acted and are embarrassed enough to tone it down in the future. Now back to wrestling and good luck to all in Mankato next weekend.

Well, it looks like my original question still stands, yes I know S.W. didn't go to state once since this tread started Jun 23 2008.

Congrats to S.W.!! Good luck and good health from a wrestling fan.

Also, I love the way some people consider their emotions holy and other peoples sinful? I heard from my boy, who was there and said there was plenty of emotion questionable or not from both sides.

Who cares! that's the sport we love, if you don't like it have your sally's join basketball. I can't imagine golf clapping happening at a team section meet.

It looks like I picked the wrong tournament to go to today. This one sounds like it was a real blast. ;)

I did, however, get to see STMA run the table and not give up a single team point throughout the tournament. Extremely impressive.

It's good for Anoka that stma moved into that weak section.

I can't ever recall seeing a #4 seed win a team section. There's a lot more knowledgeable fans than i, can you think of other four seeds or lower winning their section?

In an attempt to get this back to wrestling talk...

How many wizzers did Waconia jump over last night? I counted 3, but will bet there were more that I didn't see.

Also, how many times did Waconia improperly cut a SW wrestler only to get caught in a scramble or give up a reversal?

Last, how many times did a Waconia wrestler cut a SW wrestler in an effort to earn a major, but had absolutely no urgency in getting the bonus point?

I'm not trying to down grade Waconia wrestlers or the outstanding season that they had. But you certainly cannot lack that kind of discipline or ignore basic fundamentals and expect to be a 2AA team section champ.

Another point to debate...

I am still in shock that Jobe from WM was put back out on the mat after he collapsed, although he scored a couple td's after the KO and win the match, he spent the rest of the match staggering around like a drunken college kid.

I would have hated to see him put out against SW had they pulled it off against Hutch.

The Hutchinson trainer said he was fine .he had a bump on his cheek ,and yes he would have won against Belle Plains Jordan coop too.

Pretty sure you can throw out the seeds in this section this year, it was just a number. Scott West had a good team, everyone knew it, knew it would be close. Seeding could have been several different ways with these 4 teams almost 5 if New Prague didn't have so many injuries. Back in 2000 ( I think ) Mankato West. lost to New Ulm by 20 during the season, but beat them in the finals to go to state.

I know the Coaches on both teams and they are great Coaches. What gets lost in the mix is the emotions of the fans. What everyone needs to keep in mind is the proper perspective of the event...HS wrestling.

Support your team but keep your emotions in check. Sportsmanship on both sides is the example fans need to give to these kids.

This is a microcosm of what is wrong with our society and politics as civility is lacking. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Enough said. Congrats to Waconia on a great year. Congrats to SW for a great come back. Hutch and Watertown had great seasons also. I can not remember a year where 4 teams were realistically vying for the title. What a year. 2AA is an outstanding section.

Good luck to all in the individual sections and please check your emotions at the door and leave your baggage behind.
This really is so true 2AA is so strong all four of them Teams would have represented 2AA well Congrats to Scott West

Weak or Not...... didn't look like the Knights wrestled down to their competition, they seemed to pick up steam in each dual.

Wow, Scott West Beat Waconia..... regardless of the flames probably thrown out by each side, that was a good win.

No dog in this fight at all, and not trying to stir things up. But I will tell anyone and everybody, Al Flynn is a stand up guy who any kid would love to wrestle for. Does he get caught up in the heat of the moment? Of coarse he does, he pours his heart into these kids, and not just SW kids. He gets kids to believe in themselves because he believes in them. If you haven't had the privileged to see him on this level, please don't judge.

Not sure if its the calm after or before the storm...

So I will kick it off. New Prague guys, will you be able to get some of your injured guys back for this weekend? I know it was a tough time this year for the team.

I respected Knutson's ability before, but after watching him go at with Hall at the Xmas and show no fear...he gained a fan. I would like to see how he would do at the X. Especially being his Sr. year.
