I see 182 being super interesting. You have Buesgens, Brejle, Schmitz, Kurth, and maybe Waligoski? I think that is what he was weighing for team but I don't know where he plans to go for individuals. Also Milbrett from Waseca at 182 was ahead of Christian Kurth by a few points when Christian caught him for the pin. He is a very strong wrestler.

132 and 138 will be a battle just to place! 1-6 are wide open at both these weights I feel
Just from team section results 132: Pundsack beat Piche 3-1 Wagener beat Piche 12-10 OT Burns beat Pundsack 4-3 Kopet beat Burns 7-5 OT Pettis beat Kopet 3-2. Not sure how 132 will be seeded, and not sure it really matters except who shows up this weekend!
138: Schultz should be 1 Seigle 2 Peterson beat Anderson 3-2 Donnay beat Ayers O'Neill, Loredo-Hollon, Jaster are in the mix as well. A lot of bumping around here so not too many results to base off of, but at least 9 guys with very legitimate records

New Prague has the largest enrollment in AA, so in two years when MSHSL looks at sections again, NP will be in 2AAA or maybe 1AAA. Jared, what do you think about that, you 171# stud?? See you Saturday. I'm staying out of that topic. Back in my prime I was jealous of Scott West, but who isn't? In my eyes people see Scott West like Apple Valley in wrestling, they have a target on there back and we will find a way to stir the pot and start something. Are they a easy target? Of course! This topic has been beaten to death over and over and over and over again. Scott West has started a dynasty and they will not split up. Plain and simple, Do they have the numbers? Of course. Do they loose wrestlers cause they can't make the team? Sure do. Are people jealous of them? Yep.
What I would like to see happen is for Belle Plaine and Jordan to at least add more sports. As a person in this school district, they are behind in the times. When my kids grow up, what do they have to choose from? Basketball is not a option! :X Guys and Girls only have 6 sports to choose from and that's just not in the winter. That's all year! In the winter they have only Girls Dance or wrestling. :-/

170# Nick Knutson WALKS through the state tournament healthy. At 85% he gets 1st in sections and 3rd in state!!!!!
I agree with this. I am really hoping that he is back and healthy this weekend. He is a very good wrestler but I don't think he is going to walk through state

Its forward movement.
However, I don't think its enough as a couple of the younger kids that live on my street go to other schools to play hockey and lacrosse. And Jared...even though I won't have any kids in school after this year, don't fall over as I am agreeing with you, I would like to see additional options added when they can.

You are correct about winter sport options - it is hard to add a winter sport without an ice arena or an indoor pool.

Our school has Nordic Skiing, in addition to hockey, swimming, diving, basketball and wrestling for boys in the winter. I wish the only option for boys in our school was wrestling. ;)

Here's four obvious ones. How many state championships has SW won in the past 20 years? Valley? When is the last time Valley was ranked or seeded lower than 2 in the last 20 years? When was the last time Valley didn't win their section? When was the last time Valley wasn't nationally ranked? When has SW been nationally ranked. Like I started out, SW has a top tier wrestling program. Valley, Simley, STMA, this year KM they are not.

I don't think he meant that they were as good as AV only that they have "a target on their back" like AV. Big difference and I can't argue to much with that statement.......maybe not as big of a target but never the less a target

SW is a program that is year in and year out contending for a state tournament birth and always seem to have their kids ready to go. People in 2aa just want to take them down cause they always seem to be the team to beat.

I'll take a stab at it if nobody else is going too. 106- Pickell over Shackle 113- Vos over Stauffacher 120- Huss over Gillette 126- Stauffacher over Luthens 132- Wagener over (Pundsack, Piche) I believe that is going to be a fun match to watch. I know Pundsack won on Saturday but I still don't know who to pick. 138- Donnay over Schultz, I hope to see a Siegle, Schultz round 3 this weekend at some point too. 145- Kelvington over Sweeney 152- Parriott over Milbrett 160- Hemze over Neaton 170- Knutson (if healthy) over Rutt If Knutson can't go I think there are multiple guys that could fight it out for second. 182- Buesgens over Brejle which would set up a true second match versus Kurth 195- I have no idea really. Is Kurth healthy? This weight seems really up in the air to me. 220- Jakes over Stenzel with the possibility of a true second 285- Burns over Swanson with a true second against Schatz
I think this is a good start. Nice work. I would think we will see Schmitz (NP) in the mix at 182. He lost in double OT against Buesgens. He also majored Kurth this season.
I can see Simonette and Kallenbach in the mix at 195
Thank you I had forgotten about those two. I really don't know a ton about the guys at 195! Maybe look for a new 45 lbs man don't think Sweeney Will be making the trip, he's had a great run would have done 2AA well again this year

By the Apple Valley reference I meant as everyone is trying to find a reason to attack Scott West. It use to be transfers back in the day, then splitting up, all the way to a unfair advantage with the amount of coaches. It will always be something. If Waconia starts winning this section, people will start complaining about the color of there shoes or they didn't hug there mom after they won. That's just how it is and Scott West knows that. I feel like a lot of people hate me on this forum so I hope that means they are just jealous of me! B)

Out with shoulder That's a bummer. Regardless of the team I hate to see anyone miss their opportunity due to injury. I hope he gets better soon.

Also from my understanding I heard that the AD in Jordan is avid hockey person and is exploring the idea of adding hockey as a sport in Jordan. Maybe Jordan can coop with Belle Plain and form the Scott West panthers hockey team in a few years. Knowing my luck it would girls program and it wouldn't have any effect on wrestling. Unless you count girls that want to play hockey instead of being wrestling cheerleaders, managers, or statisticians.

No SW cheerleaders, but they do have a girl on the team.

In a sport where we are always trying to get numbers up here we are hoping for a Scott West Hockey team??? There are only 28 wrestling spots on a team. I'm pretty sure you haven't been following the thread then if you don't get the post. I personally would like wrestling year round. Freestyle in fall, folkstyle in winter, Greco in spring. But we all know that won't happen.
In my eyes basketball is not a option so to have 500 boys to choose from to only have one sport, what is the other 472 boys going to do? I personally want choices to keep all the kids involved. We aren't going to make a full circle and start over Mr. Concrete, pay attention.

I would be interested in knowing how evenly split BP and Jordan are. What would a Belle Plaine only lineup look like and what would a Jordan only lineup look like? How would each school fit in in the 2AA world? middle of the pack? contender?

SW is a program that is year in and year out contending for a state tournament birth and always seem to have their kids ready to go. People in 2aa just want to take them down cause they always seem to be the team to beat. People want to take them down because they are a co-op that has two towns that could support their own wrestling teams. We could take Delano and Watertown, put them together, and watch them mop up AA every year too.
