Football is starting soon and that means wrestling isn't far behind.

I predict the 2AA topic will be removed 3 times during the upcoming year and then re-stored.

I don't see New Prague in the top 6. Probably a 7 seed, but may squeak in at 6.

How do you see it playing out then? Who moves ahead of them?

I believe NP will be better then people think. Last year they were missing 3 wrestlers that potentially could have been state qualifiers, that were all out injured and should be back this year.

Reyant
Logelin
Arguedas

Then add Giles (state entrant last year), and Rutt - and you have a pretty good core group. You also will have Montanye (who will be wrestling at his weight instead of 40 pounds up last year).

I don't think we'll see Logelin or Giles on the section team roster this year, for two different reasons. Having Sam back is huge, very solid wrestler.

Waseca, TCU, GSL, or WEM/JWP. Could be 1,2,or all 4.

NP will be in the top 6. They lost a lot of individual talent last season, but they are starting to build a program where they will reload year after year. They will be wrestling on the Saturday of the final 4.

Won't take long to find out. They have SW and Waseca early in the season. They also wrestle Waconia, Hutch, and WMML.

I do think they will surprise some people this year.

Been pretty quiet on this thread, lets see if we can get some discussion started. I'll give a shot at contenders at each weight. Take it with a grain of salt, because I have no idea what weight a lot of these guys are sitting at or how big they got during the off season. I can't believe how young some of the teams are in this section!

106:
Gifferson, Hutch (I thought he was a little small last year?)
Hill, SW 8th
Waconia has a bunch of solid little guys

113:
Entinger, WM 10th
Bourroughs, Wac
Johnson, TCU

120: Stacked weight
Vos. Wac, 12th
Pickell, MW, 9th
Sampson, Was 11th
Shackle, SW, 10th
Knowlan, WM

126:
Gillette, St.P, 12th
Stauffacher, SW, 10th
Garnatz, Wac, 10th

132:
Stauffacher, SW 11th
Stapleton, Wac, 9th
Sweeney, WM

138: Another stacked weight
Wagener, Wac, 12th
Huss, SW, 12th
Luthens, Hutch, 11th
Kopet, TCU, 11th
Burns, WM, 11th
Pettis, STP, 10th

145:
Schultz, Wac, 12th
Loredo-Hollon, STP. 10th

152:
Mueller, Wac, 10th
Smahel, Hutch, 10th

160:
Milbrett, Was, 10th
Neaton, WM, 11th
Wadsworth, Hutch 12th
Hunt, STP, 9th

170:
Rutt, TCU, 12th
Jobe, WM, 12th
Carter, SW, 12th
Filk, Hutch, 12th

182:
Buesgens, SW, 11th
Johnson, TCU, 12th
Kurth, Hutch, 10th
Milbrett, Was 12th

195:
Simonette, TCU 12th
Kallenbach, WM, 12th
Kurth, Hutch, 12th

220:
Stenzel, Hutch, 12th
Hawkins, Wac, 11th
Sell, GSL, 12th

285:
Jakes, MW, 11th
Burns, TCU, 12th
Putz, STP, 11th

Teamwise, I think it will be Waconia beating out Scott West, Hutch, and W-M. Like I said, a lot can change in a month, let alone the 5 months until sections

That's good TMAN. Finally someone on here. Looks good. Some tough weights. I saw Pickell is at 113 for the JJ so I assume he will be there for high school. Is the lighter Staufacher really 126, if so he grew. Would love to see that 138 round robin but if it ends up like that probably one would bump to 145 or drop to 132.

I wasn't sure how big Pickell got, I know he was cutting real hard last year. For most of these guys the only hints I have on weights is football rosters, which have both Stauffachers and Shackle around 150. These can be pretty misleading at times. I'm sure the weights will even out by sections, with kids bumping around, but its always fun to speculate

I believe there's four teams that have the best chance to win section 2AA this year. This being Scott West, Waconia, Hutchinson and Watertown. Its all going to depend on which one of these teams is the healthiest at the end of the year.

It sure is going to be another exciting year to watch!

Nobody from Mankato East, WEM/JWP or NP on this list?
ME: Parrish and Haley
WEM/JWP: Reiants, Johnson, Storch
NP: Giles, Logelin, Reyant

Just to throw out a few names.

Will be an interesting night in Belle Plain on Thursday when New Prague and Scott West kick off the season. We will see who has been putting the time in during the off-season. Although Scott West may be the favorite due to the group that is returning, New Prague may be a surprise due to the depth they had behind Knutson and Parriott last year and the return of Reyant and Logelin.

Scott West will steam roll New Prague. I'm calling 4 wins for New Prague possibly between 138-182 the whole match.
