Now that we are into January, what are peoples individual rankings for the section?

Team rankings? If so, I'll give it a shot as of right now.

1. Scott West 2. Delano 3. New Prague 4. Hutchinson 5. MLLC 6. Waconia
7. Watertown-Mayer 8. St. Peter 9. New Ulm 10. Mankato East 11. GSL/LP

Then again, Hutchinson still has Delano (29th), New Prague (25th) and MLLC (29th) left.

Delano and New Prague on the 20th. Waconia sees Delano and New Prague.

Still a lot of time to figure out who is going where - pretty confident though, that the top four will be the top four - maybe just not in that order.

1. Scott West
2. NP
3. Delano

New Prague is looking pretty good this year and will give delano a run. But dont matter cause 2nd place dont go to state. So top team is Scott West

We'll see Jan. 20. Like I posted last night, we'll know more in two weeks. After Jan. 29 it should be fairly set for team sections.

I seen the results from the MLLC tri and to my surprise no miller at 171 he was there he was there on the 10th at there own tourney. given the fact that he has only had 18 matches i wouldn't think its match count given there schedual towards the end. be big loss if he is hurt. makes the top half of that line up very solid.

I see Sowers is now ranked at 119#. This should make 119 indv. very interesting.

Sowers now back to 125.....

125
#3 Stangret
#6 Sowers
#8 Friederich

119 and 125 mixing it back and forth.

Anyone in the know as who will be going where?

Anybody know anything on Seck (103 pounder for Delano)? He didn't wrestle against Scott West and not again this weekend.

No way New Prague beats Delano this year IMO.

Delano 40, New Prague 21
103: Trenton Seck (Del) dec Andy Underhill (NP) 11-4
112: Dakota Cole (NP) dec Jon Drusch (Del) 10-9
119: Zane Bucher (NP) fall Chad Booth (Del) 2:35
125: Dalton Sowers (Del) dec Aaron Redding (NP) 8-2
130: Morgan Parriot (NP) dec Tim Celander (Del) 5-2
135: Ben Brasket (Del) dec Alex Minette (NP) 6-0
140: Mike Roth (Del) fall Zac Hinricher (NP) 1:29
145: Andy Reinartz (NP) dec Joe Hessing (Del) 19-17
152: Jesse Cole (NP) fall Matt Koloski (Del) 5:06
160: Jake Bohler (Del) fall David Doran (NP) 1:47
171: Jordan Braegelmann (Del) maj Roger Sirek (NP) 13-0
189: Eric Dahl (Del) fall Tim Haas (NP) 1:32
215: Dalton Copenhaver (Del) dec Evan Beranek (NP) 7-4
Hwt: Eric Nelson (Del) fall Brandon Svoboda (NP) 2:53

I guess he was right.

So, Delano is the No. 2 seed right now. The only other team that could bump them is Hutchinson, who wrestles them Jan. 30. New Prague and Hutch could be wrestling for the third seed the day before on the 29th.

I would like to say that Delano will the the #2 seed behind Scott West. I don't think Hutch has as many "above-average" wrestlers as Delano does. From what I was able to see - Delano didn't have an entire line-up against Scott West - looks like a 9-10 point swing at 103 was a big difference. I'm not taking anything away from Scott West - they have a great team - all I'm saying is that I would expect a great section final bout between these two teams.

Well, here is what I see for Delano/Hutch based on Delano's lineup from NP:

103: Nick Clobes (H) dec. Trenton Seck (D) H 3-0
112: Tyler Wendorff (H) pin Jon Drusch (D) H 9-0
119: Lucas Ferrian (H) dec Chad Booth (D) H 12-0
125: Dalton Sowers (D) maj. Bobby Rasmussen H 12-4
130: Jordan Hansen (H) dec Tim Celander (D) H 15-4
135: Ethan Smith (H) dec. Ben Brasket (D) H 18-4
140: Mike Roth (D) fall Anthony Settergren (H) H 18-10
145: Ryan Madson (H) maj Joe Hessing (D) H 22-10
152: Cody Manderscheid (H) tcfl Matt Koloski (D) H 27-10
160: Jake Bohler (D) dec Mike Schlueter (H) H 27-13
171: Jordan Braegelmann (D) maj Mason Anderson (H) H 27-17
189: Eric Dahl (D) fall Dalton Benage (H) H 27-23
215: Dalton Copenhaver (D) pin Wes Corrigan (H) D 29-27
Hwt: Eric Nelson (D) fall Josh Piepmeier (H) D 35-27

Sure could use Kyle White at 189. The other option is to wrestle eighth-grader Eric Madson at 112 and slide everybody up and bump Benage (JV wrestler) at 189. I think Delano has the edge because they have solid kids where Hutch is strong. Less bonus points.

Thanks for the Hutchinson/Delano break-down, Hutchfan13. You seem to have very good insight. Based on your numbers, it looks like an even match with a couple of bonus points here or there being the difference. I saw Hutch earlier this season and they looked especially strong in the middle weights. You may have short-changed them on some bonus points between 130 and 152. Madson and Manderscheid -- the M&M Boyz -- need to score six apiece if Hutch is going to be successful. Is eighth-grader Eric related to the elder Madson? Putting him at 112 -- i.e. replacing one JV kid with another (Benage would be bumped at 189) --- typically doesn't make much sense because it would likely weaken what you consider a strong Hutch line-up at the opening three weights. Probably best to leave the line-up as it is during the regular season and let the under-sized eighth-grader grow up a bit. The coach can always dabble with the line-up at sections if he thinks he needs to. Hey Hutchfan, why isn't White at 189? (saw him earlier, too). Like your stuff, Hutchfan. How 'bout breaking down the Hutch/New Prague tilt --- should be another good one. Thanks again.

The problem with White being out at 189 (knee), is that Hutch almost certainly gives up 18 points at 189-285. That doesn't give you much leeway, so you might have to get creative and bump everyone up a spot so as to maybe only give up 15 up top.

Yes, Eric Madson is the younger brother of Ryan. If the Tigers didn't have a top 5 wrestler at 103, he probably would have wrestled 30 matches on varsity this season.

You want my NP/Hutch breakdown - I'll do my best. Haven't seen NP this year and they don't post many results on the Guillotine:
103: Nick Clobes (H) maj. Natalie Rutt (NP) H 4-0
112: Tyler Wendorff (H) pin Dakota Cole (NP) H 10-0
119: Lucas Ferrian (H) dec Zane Bucher (NP) H 13-0
125: Aaron Redding (NP) maj. Bobby Rasmussen (H) H 13-4
130: Morgan Parriot (NP) dec Jordan Hansen (H) toss-up H 13-7
135: Ethan Smith (H) maj Alex Minette (NP) H 17-7
140: Anthony Settergren (H) dec Zac Hinricher (NP) H 20-7
145: Ryan Madson (H) pin Andy Reinartz (NP) H 26-7
152: Cody Manderschied (H) pin Jesse Cole (NP) H 32-7
160: Mike Schlueter (H) maj David Doran (NP) H 36-7
171: Roger Sirek maj Mason Anderson (H) H 36-11
189: Tim Haas (NP) wins by forfeit H 36-17
215: Evan Beranek (NP) fall Wes Corrigan H 36-23
Hwt: Brandon Svoboda (NP) wins by forfeit H 36-29

New Prague beat Hutch on their home mat last year.

I took NP's lineup from the Delano match and added Natalie Rutt at 103. I recognize only 9 of the 14 kids from last year, so sometimes I took a guess.

Redding and Parriot would be at 119/125.
Parriot would not beat Hansen.

I think NP was missing some from this lineup?

Earlier lineup:

New Prague 38, St. Peter 32
103: Hunter Retzlaff (StP) maj Richard Reinartz (NP) 18-4
112: Dakota Harlip (StP) dec Natalie Rutt (NP) 12-5
119: Aaron Redding (NP) fall Nick Rydell (StP) 1:50
125: Morgan Parriott (NP) dec Andy Bushell (StP) 10-5
130: Alex Minette (NP) tech Ashton Bartlett (StP) 23-7
135: Kody Dolezal (NP) fall Nick Kempenich (StP) 1:34
140: Brian Zabel (StP) fall Logan Giles (NP) 3:29
145: Andy Reinartz (NP) fall Andrew Doherty (StP) 1:46
152: Tyler Chouanard (StP) maj Jesse Cole (NP) 4:44
160: Jim Wilking (StP) maj Roger Sirek (NP) 15-6
