Agreed GR. It's over and the call was made. Would the same call have been made at any other section site other Jordan or Belle Plaine?

I talked with the officials

Couple of facts
1). There was no.back points being counted that is someone stretching the truth. The TD was at the buzzer and in question and was a close call that would have made 1 team happy and 1 team upset.
2). The 2 officials conferenced and made the decision.
3) the head official did not waive off the TD after the conference. His hand signals and verbal communication that we as fans didn't hear was to tell the head coaches to get back. I know it looked like they waived off the TD but that was not one he was trying to indicate
4) please don't call out the integrity of a very good NCAA and high school official please.

Tough close calls happen. Had the TD been waived off we very well could be having this same conversation but it would be the other team complaining. That's what makes a job as an official tough as he has to make a call sometimes that happens right at the buzzer

According to the radio call, the KCHK announcer said that there was .3 seconds on the clock when the score was signaled (even if the TD had happened with that time left, it could have been signaled after the buzzer, but he said the score was signaled with time on the clock).

It was the former head/current assistant coach from New Prague that mentioned on the radio that it was a Scott West dad running the table.

I don't think that was right to say as a radio analyst.

Knowing who the "Scott West dad" was at the table makes it hard to believe an unethical call would have been made.

Wrestling official-I appreciate your response and appreciate the great contribution of HS officials. Only question is why the 2 minute conversation with the table if Shultz confirmed?? If Shultz agreed it is a simple confirm and award points. I do disagree though, acting official Clearly waived off not pushed coaches back.

How can you disagree with WrestlingOfficial?
It's not him saying the ref was holding off the coaches
He said he TALKED WITH THE OFFICIALS and THE OFFICIAL SAID
"(I) did not waive off the TD after the conference. His hand signals and verbal communication that we as fans didn't hear was to tell the head coaches to get back. I know it looked like they waived off the TD but that was not one he was trying to indicate"
Right from the mouth of the official that made the call

Greenwave in a very tight dual in tight situation like that a longer conversation to get it right is better than a short conversation. Some of the lengthy time was spent getting the coaches back so the 2 officials could discuss without persuasion from the 2 coaches.

There is clearly too much at stake here. Just like what was announced before wrestling started, no other final four in any section or class was as awesome as this one. It has to have a neutral site with all workers brought in with no affiliation to section 2AA what so ever. And shame on the MSHSL for taking the gate proceeds and allowing it to be a s$$t show again this year!

I agree with keeping the coaches out of it...and especially in that that scenario. From a spectator perspective, the call was wrong.

The ref signaled two points before time ran out, enough said! Scott West runs a great program and unfortunately you bashers out there can't just tip your cap. Maybe the hutch wrestler should have not given up a reversal at the time he did. Did you haters ever think about that? It was a great match and someone had to win, because it was Scott West some fans just can't take that. I'm a neutral fan in all this and I felt it should have been 2.

Good job Waconia! 4th place is nothing to be ashamed of!
I apologize for implying the refs from yesterday's dual aren't good at what they do. Being a ref is not a job anyone envies. They make mistakes and that is just part of the sport. I was just trying to point out the classy comment by this clown  and remind him that Waconia tied his team earlier in the year. It takes a one of kind person to come onto a forum after the team they are cheering for makes it to state and throw incendiary remarks out about a school that wasn't even in the finals. Even though it was clear to everyone in the gym that SW fans, coaches and wrestlers were celebrating when Hutch beat Waconia. big poppa you're not 'a scott west panther', you're some old guy living vicariously through today's wrestlers and making people dislike your coop more than necessary. It would be nice to be able to cheer on the team representing our section, but arrogant fans like you make it hard.

Colby Dunkel NP
Jacob Hill SW
Nick Johnson TCU
Tristan Lang Hutch

You go with the most recent results. The goal is for your skills to grow as the season progresses so a late season win has more precedence. But since the true second goes to state it really does not matter much how they are seeded. Your right though, it should be fun!

I hope everyone has had their chance to air their sour grapes, but lets move on to individuals.

2AA has some of the best state match ups. Arguably one of the toughest sections in the State.

Who are the top 2 at each weight?

I'd make the argument that it isn't "arguably one of the toughest sections in the state". Plain and simple, it is.

I think 2AAA might have something to say about that statement.

if you took the best 2AA kids at each weight and the best 2aaa kids at each weight I think 2AAA wins a 80% percent of the matches.

No sour grapes here, but I'd expect SW wrestling to be a brand known for state titles rather than section titles. I will give them credit if they win it all this year. In fact, I'd expect nothing less. I just don't want them to be known as a program who qualified 9/10 years but never got it done.

To start that comment off with "no sour grapes here" is probably the most disingenuous statement I've read on the forum in a long time
