I feel like there will be a guy staying home at every weight that could be a state place winner, crazy section.

With my limited time spent watching all the teams (I spent more time this year only looking at results and that doesn't tell the whole story), I think Tman21 and Dobbler's thoughts are is a good starting point for debate. Thanks for taking the time guys!

I think everyone agrees there will be several solid wrestlers staying home that could compete well at state. I anticipate 2AA having a large number of place winners again this year.

195 will be a meat grinder. Wonder which wrestlers will go up to 220, if any? Stenzel is my guess with Kurth going HWT.
IMO, Kurth will place in state at 220 or Hwt, his choice, however, if Stenzel stays at 195, he only has 25% chance of qualifying for state. If they both bump up, I think they both make state. Both are seniors, I can't wait to see what those Hutch seniors do. 2AA has too many studs, unfortunately it's going to be a heartbreaker for a few seniors that worked their butts off to have their high school season end Saturday, but that's section 2AA wrestling.
Agreed. I haven't seen Trigg wrestle, but from the results I've seen, I think Kurth would have a shot at winning the state championship at HWT.

Quoting limited to 4 levels deeparguably
1. I think it was originally intended to mean the 2AA is the toughest section in AA. (not trying to start a debate). Not all sections in the state.

2. In a AA vs AAA, "AA wins 160 & 195, that's it" I guess Ryan (220) beating Foster twice this year means nothing.
Nope, it meant 2AA is the toughest section in the state.

I never meant that the best 2AA wrestlers were completely unbeatable. And I never hinted that they are the best wrestlers in any class or section. I never said that other sections aren't tough.

I just simply said that 2AA is the toughest. And it is. It is the deepest with ranked teams. It is the deepest with Lean and Mean teams. It is the deepest with ranked individuals. It is deepest in almost all individual weight classes.

Grand Marshall knows this, or at least knew this and forgot (being out of 2AA for a couple years can make someone forgetful). ;) :P
Ok, I'll bite again even though I feel 2AA is very good. Just looked through the kids and in looking, 1AA has the best team and, if you took the best from each in a dual I don't feel anyone would beat Section 1.
I think he is getting at is the overall depth of this section. Knowing from experience in wrestling in this section I understand exactly what he is saying. I think to get a look at what he is saying is maybe make a team of the wrestlers that place 3rd at each weight and wrestle the other sections. It is an incredible section and there are always kids that are very good that don't make it to the big dance.

Love all the prognostication!!! Little surprised to see how similar the predictions have been so far. I apologize in advance for any spelling errors. I am sure I left some out who should be here and no doubt some will not be at the weights i have. One thing i have learned following this section is there will be upsets and unfortunately some very good wrestlers will not make it through. Good luck to all. Here is my crack at the top 2 with a contender or two....

(someone from 132?), Peterson WMML

152
1. Schultz WAC

Good start Panther...

My notes:
Justin Stauffacher SW would be another dark horse for 120. 1 and 2 are the clear favorites, but $#I^ happens.

Sam Reyant NP has been tough at 138. Although he didn't wrestle last weekend. So I am hoping he isn't injured. He is fun to watch and will mix it up where ever he lands. This is an insanely deep weight.

195 to HWT will be interesting. A bunch of kids have been moving up and down there all year. More will be clear tomorrow when brackets come out.

5 individuals but I think they got 19 for the team portion so that would mean they got the most....

Lots of great wrestling yesterday. 8 out of 14 true seconds...you had to battle to punch your ticket.

Congrats to all the place winners and now its time for the qualifiers to go get some precious metal.

Good luck to all the qualifiers and SW team at the Excel this week. Represent 2AA well.

Not a bad showing by all the 2AA teams with the following break down.

Hutchinson- 6
Waconia- 6
Scott West- 5
TCU- 3
New Prague- 2
Mankato West- 2
St. Peter- 1
Watertown- 1
Waterville- 1
Waseca- 1

I see a lot of State Place winners.

Section 2AA also had 8 wrestlers seeded 1st or 2nd at state and a total of 12 seeded in the top 6. I would bet that this section will have more then 12 on the podium this year, but if we had 8 in the finals I would not complain about that.
