Thanks Jared, I was just looking at this breakdown too.
To add some more stats, here's how the section seedings held up. Seed followed by how many state entrants.
1st: 13 (not 132)
2nd: 7 (only half of the 2 seeds made the big show)
3rd: 5
4th: 2
5th: 0
6th: 0
7th:0
8th: 1 (132)

That is true. But I believe Jared was showing the accuracy of the seeding, not who was going to state. Parker was the one seed but came in second. He is still going to state but based on Saturday's results he was seeded just a bit high. This is why they wrestle and it also shows how wrestling is a process of continual improvement.

Scott West- 5
TCU- 3
New Prague- 2
Mankato West- 2
St. Peter- 1
Watertown- 1
Waterville- 1
Waseca- 1

I see a lot of State Place winners.

Any updates? How many state entrants for "the class of 2AA" Scott West?
5 individuals but I think they got 19 for the team portion so that would mean they got the most....
5 ind. + 19 team + refs wearing SW warmups= Way too many
I should have known this was your alter-Ego

Congrats to SW for a strong team showing.

Good luck to all the 2AA individuals. You set the bar high last year for placings. Now go out and beat it this year.

Wow! Just watched Gliva run away from Stauffacher the entire match. To bad he couldn't finish any of those shots. I feel he deserved that title. Just my thoughts

What's the matter BRM8...you dislike SW so much you can't hope for any of them to do well...I am glad I am not as petty as you. I cheered for all the 2AA kids to do well all night.

Congrats to all the 2AA place winners. I think I counted 17 place winners. Way to go!

tibeco...not sure what your problem is. bananasplits didn't say anything bad about Gliva. It was good close match.

You must be dense if you don't read any negativity into that statement, Jeepn. If he said it was a good close match, I would agree. He didn't.

Imagine how you would take it if the results had been flipped and someone said Stauffacher ran the entire match and that Gliva deserved the win...I'm sure you would have just gone along with that point of view?

thanks jeepn, not once did I say Gliva was a bad wrestler. You know my statement is true if you actually watched the match. He got called for stalling with about 1:15 in theb3rd period and should have been dinged another in my opinion! And know i'my not a Scott West fan i'my a 2AA fan!

I don't think anyone "deserves" anything in that match, you have to earn it. I do believe Gliva was very defensive towards the end of the match, but I would call that smart wrestling. If Gliva would of tied up in the match and get taken down people would of looked at him like Kurth from Hutch in semifinals. Why didn't Gliva stay away from Stauffacher? I do think that was a great match and Stauffacher put himself in a great position to win that match.

I think some people didn't like your comment because you called out "Gliva run away from Stauffacher the entire match". Which that was not the case obviously.

I kind of thought Wagner had a shot at Aldrich this time around. I thought Aldrich might overlook him a little but I really didn't think Wagner would tear him up like he did. Wagner came to wrestle! Aldrich might have over looked him a little but it wouldn't have changed anything

I think Wagner is a great wrestler. I just think he just got tired of losing to Aldrich. I believe he came in with a plan to beat Aldrich. That plan worked perfectly!

I did get a kick out of the mat rat shirts this year though. I tried getting my hands on "the co-op" shirt before the state tournament but had to settle for the mat tat co-op shirt. I'm glad Scott West had a sense of humor over it all anyways.

Any idea why being a MSHSL Academic Individual State Champion or Team State Champions is not a bigger award than it currently is.

The wrestlers are STUDENT/ATHLETES.

I believe Waconia's Garret Vos is a Academic Champion, A 3 time place winner as well as a back to back MSHSL state wrestling champion.
Waconia Wrestlers are back to back MSHSL Academic Class AA State Champions.
Well worth making a big deal over.

Going into the DII and DIII nationals this week, there are two 2AA alum competing that I am aware of (please recognize anyone I missed so we can cheer for them).

David Flynn - Augsburg red shirt freshman - 141 lbs - Competing in his first DIII nationals.

Gabe Fogarty - St. Cloud St. red shirt senior - 165 lbs - Going for his 4th DII All American finish.

Next week we have three - 2AA alum competing in the D1 championships

Michael Kroells - Gophers! red shirt senior - HWT - Going for his 3rd All American finish

Luke Zilverberg - SDSU junior - 165 - competing in his first D1 championship

Andrew Fogerty - NDSU red shirt freshman - 165 - competing in his first D1 championship

Next year I hope to see Griffin Parriott making his first NCAA D1 championship

Assuming a red shirt year next year, hopefully we see Garret Vos making it the following year.

If there are other 2AA alum competing this weekend, please post it so we can cheer for them. Good luck to all!

Sorry in advance if I misspelled any names...

If Scott West wasnt in the section, 2AA wouldn't have any wrestlers wrestling in college this year. It's a good thing you can always count on the Co-op

False. Ashton Bartlett wrestles for SMSU. I'm sure there are others on college rosters as well!
They may not make it to nations, but they still are wrestling...

Although it would have been an honor to watch Skyler, he wan't a 2AA wrestler.

Before this spirals out...

I brought up the 2AA alum I know are competing the next two weekends and asked for others to be recognized, that I may missed. Yes, the ones I listed are SW wrestlers, they are the competitors I am most familiar with/follow.

I also called out a couple young men I think have a chance to make it to the big dance at the next level to show we are seeing more parity and college level talent.

2AA had a good representation from all the schools in the section this year. HS season is over. Lets move on to cheering for the ones we watched grow up and now competing for the "local" colleges.

I highly doubt Aldrich would make that excuse. He is too good to do that.

Wagener has been improving every year and he was clearly the best in the 145 AA class this year. He out wrestled (speed and technique) Aldrich and won the match in dominating fashion.
