BPWRESTLINGDAD, what are you doing on here at 5:00 AM, are you just getting to bed or couldn't sleep? If just getting to bed, it must have been a good celebration.

When I was in the stands yesterday, one of the dads I was talking to was saying that a lot of the SW wrestlers were going to stay up for individual next week. I'm not sure if that is the case, but maybe he knows something that I don't, sooo????? can some one in the know confirm? BPwrestling dad or BiggPoopa???

If that is the case if would certinally changed the indv. outlook at several weights.

Hey, if the team is hitting on all cylinders, then why not stay where they are. It will defiantly put a different light on several weights for individuals.

Looks like thing will really be in a big mix at 119, if Flemming and Goldberg go up on Friday. I saw that Goldberg beat Redding 16-10 and I believe Drew beat him earlier. On the other hand Zilvirberg at 119 would also be interesting, He looks tough right now!!! He pinned Sowers Last nite at 125. Sould be very interesting at this weight. Friedrich should bring his A game!

Your post about SW was right on.!!! Thank you !!! You are a great sportsman/women.!!!

If people only knew the dedication and year round work and preparation that families, coaches and these kids do. A good contengency continues to wreslte together all year long and alumni return each year to help out and teach what skills they have/had and a weight lifting program that is running all year long and a kid wrestling program second to none, not to mention the fund raising. You talk about a program... right on!! You talk about committment...right on!!!. That is why they reload !!! That builds tradition!! That causes success. Hats off to Rip and Staph. who should be coaches of the year.

Finally got to a computer...only stayed for the semis, but watch out for Scott West at state. Hopefully they can avoid Simley (who lost one match in three duals Saturday - awesome section) until the finals. Congrats to the Tigers/Hubmen...I forget what their nickname is.

Missed opportunities was the key phrase for Hutch yesterday. Needed one of these things to happen:
* 112 more than a major against a six-win kid
* 130 more than a major against a kid that wrestled five matches
* more than a decision at 135, 145, 152 or 171

I couldn't believe how shocked Delano fans were when they scored 18 points in a matter of four total minutes. Look at the records folks. Hutch had three first-year wrestlers competing up top. Congrats to Delano as well. Kids wrestled hard.

Starting off individuals talk - rank your top three at each weight (seedings will be determined Thursday - I think we're starting to see where most kids will go):
103 - Clobes (Hut), Seck (Del), Underhill (NP)
112 - Fleming (WM), Goldberg (SW), Braunshausen (Wac)/Rydell (SP)
119 - Zilverberg (SW), N. Friederich (MLLC), Redding (NP)
125 - Sowers (Del), Seigle (SW), Z. Friederich (MLLC)
130 - M. Dvorak (SW), Stangret (Wac), Hansen (Hutch), Stadnick (WM)/Delwiche (GSL)
135 - Smith (Hutch), Brasket (Del)
140 - Jenson (GSL), Hessing (Del), Herrmann (Wac)/Dolezal (NP)
145 - Kivel (SW), Madson (Hutch), Roth (Del)
152 - Poikonen (WM), Manderscheid (Hutch), D. Davis (ME)
160 - Rutt (MLLC), Schlueter (Hutch), D. Fogarty (SW)/Bohler (Del)
171 - Pawelk (Wac), T. Neaton (WM), C. Fogarty (SW)
189 - Krocak (MLLC), Dahl (Del), Reinke (NP)/Kroells (SW)
215 - Brinkman (NU), Broll (Wac), Hentges (SW)
285 - Zabel (SP), Kratzke (ME), Nelson (Del)

Knights was the other teams name.

I would add Seigle SW to 125.

Hutch looked good against Delano but Delano is good on the top weights. Hutch will graduate how many senors this year? :P

Scott West has good coaching, good wrester's , equals a real luxury. This years team section lined up nicely for them. They got some good wrestling out of there lightweights, made moving them around easy. For Individuals I see this:

103: Betchwars
112: Goldberg
119: Zilverberg
125: Seigle
130: Mark Dvorak
135: Marty Dvorak
140: Paul Dvorak
145: Kivel
152: Nick Dvorak
160: Dillon Fogarty
171: Connor Fogarty
189: Michael Kroells
215: Travis hentges
285: Bruce Koepp

Wrestling up for team sections got them by, but for individuals, I'm sure you come in lean and mean. IMO

All I can say is wow. Very impressive win.

I would like to know what was said in the wrestling room pre finals.

Unreal how they turned it around. Zilverberg, Fogarty, Kroells...huge wins against guys they lost to earlier in the year.

Hutch's seniors - pretty nice class
Wendorff at 112 (20 wins)
Ferrian at 119 (18-20 wins I think)
Smith at 135 (34 wins)
Madson at 145 (all-time wins leader with 180 - 34 this season)
Manderscheid at 152 (32 wins)

At the risk of beating a dead horse, I want to go back to the Scott West discussion for just a second.

How many wrestlers are in the program? How many from each school? combined enrollment from the three schools is 903. Under the current enrollment numbers, Belle Plaine would be one of the smaller Class AA schools, Jordan would be one of the biggest Class A schools.

I know when Belle Plaine and Jordan combined in the late '80s, it was done to save wrestling at those schools. The combined team was "competitive" with other MRC schools at the time. They have since been booted from the MRC for wrestling because of their dominance.

I think it would be interesting to see how these two schools would do on their own.

And yes, some of the Dvoraks are from New Prague...The older three brothers all wrestled for New Prague and so did the fourth, but he open enrolled to Jordan for his junior year, and the little brothers followed. And I'm pretty sure each of the Dvorak daughters (all five of them) were wrestling cheerleaders at New Prague.

After watching Scott West wrestle at a unbelievable level on Saturday......How many will they get through to the Dance??

Tough draw out of the gates at the State Tournament, if they wrestle like they did in the finals on Saturday, it should be a real "barn burner".....should be fun to watch!
