Hey sitandspin.....being a former "Valley Boy" all this transfer, recruit talk must have you feeling right at home!

To bad they are not talking about our transfers. We still got time though. I have a few trips planned to the bigger tournaments this summer, a roll of dollar bills and a spare bedroom.

The fact is: Section 2AA is tough!! Delano and Hutch are probably the only 2 non co-op teams that have been able to compete.

I guess I'm really not understanding this but I think you should include New Prague in that sentence. Not exactly sure what you are tring to get at but how many transfers have New Prague had in the last couple years, well last 10 years for that? They had like 5 transfer out but very few transfer in. Now with the new coaches its a whole new team, I look forward to the future what will happen.

How many kids are from Jordan and how many kids are from Belle Plaine, and could they exist on their own today.

Not sure on the total number of kids in both programs but I know that if they split up today it would not be pretty.

Both teams would struggle to field a whole line up. I would say both teams would have at least 4 forfeits.

Scott West has had a string of great wrestlers move up through the youth program. A couple of them quit along the way. But believe it or not, not all of Scott Wests good wrestlers are transfers. Dan Zilverberg, and all of the youth coaching staff and dedicated parents helped mold most of the good wrestlers. As far as the John, Mark and Scott Dvorak, they have many family ties in Scott West. It only made sense for them to wrestle with their cousins. If you had the chance to wrestle with your family on a good team wouldnt you take that.

I'll touch on this subject for a little while since I was in favor of Scott West splitting back in the day. The truth is Belle Plaine could split and probably fill all the weights, but would struggle with wins. Jordan could not afford to split up since there are like 5 wrestlers on the team from that town and very few JV'ers.

To touch a little bit more on this John Dvorak thing, John open enrolled to wrestle for Scott West because he did all his summer wrestling with the Scott West wrestlers. He was over in Belle Plaine wrestling more then in New Prague wrestling, Coach Zilverberg, with coach Stauf excelled John an extra level and he thought it was only fare to wrestle with them during the school year too. I'm not going to go into the coaching but if New Prague had coaches in 2005 like they do now, I don't think the Dvorak transfer would have happened. It’s all about coaches that care.

At the risk of beating a dead horse, I want to go back to the Scott West discussion for just a second.

How many wrestlers are in the program? How many from each school? combined enrollment from the three schools is 903. Under the current enrollment numbers, Belle Plaine would be one of the smaller Class AA schools, Jordan would be one of the biggest Class A schools.

I know when Belle Plaine and Jordan combined in the late '80s, it was done to save wrestling at those schools. The combined team was "competitive" with other MRC schools at the time. They have since been booted from the MRC for wrestling because of their dominance.

I think it would be interesting to see how these two schools would do on their own.

And yes, some of the Dvoraks are from New Prague...The older three brothers all wrestled for New Prague and so did the fourth, but he open enrolled to Jordan for his junior year, and the little brothers followed. And I'm pretty sure each of the Dvorak daughters (all five of them) were wrestling cheerleaders at New Prague.

they can get 5-6 wins, but everything has to go their way. simley is stacked up and down the whole line up. I like Scott West, and wish them the best of luck but simley is tough as nails

I'll give it a shot-

Scott West vs. Simley

103- Torres (S) Maj. Betchwars 4-0
112- Goldberg (SW) dec. Wright 4-3
119- Zilverberg (SW) dec. Short 4-6
125- Dick (S) dec. Seigle 7-6

130- Glenn (S) TF F. Dvorak 12-6
135- M. Dvorak (SW) Maj. Wanzek 12-10
140- Anderson (S) maj. P. Dvorak 16-10
145- Barnes (S) Fall Hentges 22-10
152- Kivel (SW) dec. Julson 22-13
160- D. Fogerty (SW) dec Hoffner 22-16
171- C. Fogerty (SW) dec Morgan 22- 19

189- Berg (S) maj. Kroells 26-19
215- Hentges (SW) dec. Lahomb 26- 22
HWT- Gehlaye (S) dec. Koepp 29-22 Simley

Pretty much this whole match will have some toss up matches, like all the ones that are in bold. I think Simley is favored in probaly most of them but I think Scott West can win all of those. No question Scott West can keep it close but it will be a tall order for them to win it.

Also a tall order will be to get Zilverberg to 119? Is that even possible? Well if he can't get in there then Gabe Fogerty will have all he can handle to not get pinned against Short.

Eighth-grader Eric Madson will be at 112 for Hutch. That's all I got. Sitting back waiting for the storm of the century to hit!!!

Gees, now what am I going to do this evening? I cleared my schedule this evening, picked up a six pack already, was ready to stay up late tonight online, arm chair quarterbacking all the seeds/match ups. I feel like I have been robbed!!!

Looks like I will just have to go and shovel my driveway 2-3 times tonight instead.
