You aimed this topic towards 2AA when it should be it's own topic and I would take offense if I were a coach in this section.
You keep saying your not just blaming it on the coachs, but then you make statements like this:

Who am I to say, well I don't have to be anyone to voice my opinion. But I do know a lot of the kids and parents in our section and through the state and region. I have been watching them wrestle since they we're little kids. In town, state, and national tournys ,Many of the parents and I have spoken about the same problems in some programs through out the years. Like lowering the expectation in the wrestling room to the kid that might quits level. Or telling a kid to cut to a weight and just saying oh you can do it, but not giving the kid a nutritional guide lines or plan to fallow. To me thats who is in charges responsibility, and I just don;t get that... And in my opinion there are some like I said who are safe in their job and just rollin along.

Do you really think problems like this are new or getting worse or were they there 10, 15, etc. years ago?
I think years ago coachs were probably alot tougher on the kids than they are now and have heard weight cutting horror stories. I don't think they were handing out nutritional plans to anyone years ago, and in this aspect I hope things are getting better.
There's always going to be better more dedicated coachs in some programs, stronger programs, they have changed throughout the years as coachs have come and gone.
Maybe kids need to also be responsible for their own success and will learn a more valuble lesson. I think they have it much easier now than in the past and far more opportunities than any of us ever had.  The private programs (Pinnacle etc., the many advantages MN/USA wrestling and other programs are offering statewide.

Guess what, I don't care who takes offence! I stand by what I said and and you could be a coach or worse yet a un-official coach with no acountability or anyone we don't know do we!

Yes, I do think its getting worse and you don't have to be tougher, maybe just smarter will work?

I agree there is much better nutritional information out now, yet kids are still pushed to do all they can to cut before the certification process.

*There's always going to be better more dedicated coachs in some programs, stronger programs, they have changed throughout the years as coachs have come and gone

OK I Guess.

*Maybe kids need to also be responsible for their own success and will learn a more valuble lesson.

Then why have coaches, maybe everyone should just hire a coach for just themself.

*I think they have it much easier now than in the past and far more opportunities than any of us ever had. The private programs (Pinnacle etc., the many advantages MN/USA wrestling and other programs are offering statewide.

Yes, they do, no doubt about that, so wouldn't that mean that many coaches have it easier too? getting kids from youth and private clubs with great coaches going to the U of M and all the rest of the options kids have. Hmmmmmm

John179? Big Whoop? Maybe your right that 2nd place isnt nothing, but from where I come from it is? Its called building a team! Are you some kind of a state or national champion? Or do you just follow success? Its better to be a leader.....not a follower?

Our team would drop dead from shock with a 2nd place finish...We would be sooo psyched. It all depends on your perspective. Most of these better 2AA schools have decent coaches and consistancy. (Hutch, SW, NP etc.)
There are a some 3AAA teams who don't even have coaches for next season or a full line-up, (can you say MULTIPLE years FF at 215-285?) and if you have a kid entering 9th grade, this is a HUGE issue. Not everyone has the $ to relocate their family where the grass is greener. You try to build what you have and work hard....You do the best you can with what you have, which may not be much.

And FYI: as for working hard...ALL IMTOPSTEP/13887 and my kid work hard year round, period. None of them are sitting around playing video games. Unfortunately, only about 25% of each team is in that catagory with some exceptions, like AV probably has 75% working hard year round. SO they vast majority of HS teams are geared towards the "in-season" athlete, as it is with all sports. The majority of kids just wrestle for fun in season. It is tough for the high acheivers, on any team, in any sport. That is why MNUSA storm cadet/Jr teams are so great, it is all the kids who want to put in the extra time and be on a great team. Unfortunatley, HS wrestling is NOT like that.
Too bad their isn't a choice to do year-round, club FS/GR/Folk wrestling with a competitive schedule for these kids. It sure would be less frustrating.

YUB said-Well for the past 15 years a group of us have been setting up camps and clinics most of them for free with hall of fame coaches, wrestlers, state and national champions, Olympians and world champions and place winners. As well as running tournys, recruiting for and helping to set up private clubs as well as driving kids all over the country so they can experience all that wrestling has to offer. Other than that I've just gripped a lot

So in the next couple years we can look forward to WM taking out SW then?

Ride Hard Boy
We have not work with just WM/ML kids, We do what we can to help any kids that have wanted the help, from Waconia, Mound, Delano, Howard Lake, Minnetonka, Lester Prairie, Glencoe, Hutch, and all over the area. So I can't say any of the teams whos kids come out or we are able to help will be taking out SW. You asked what I've been doing so I told you, Yet you hiding behind a fake name come back at me like I said something about "taking out SW" WOW.
I told everyone my opinion and didn't hide who I am and you can't take it. (whom ever you are) I didn't claim to be speaking for anyone else but at least I spoke as myself, and what I thought and think based on my observations. Sorry I didn't sugar coat it so everyone with thin skin could handle it. Opinions usually don't hurt so bad unless there is some truth to them.

I'm just curious who you have worked with from Hutch because if your refering to "the shed", we've been with the Hutch program for awhile and don't know anyone who has ever been there that you can claim you've worked with. I know a couple years ago ours was invited once, but has never gone. Just wondering.

I'm sorry I do not remember their names, when the Shed first opened and coach Darrel Shoan Ran the first camps for little kids some hutch kids where there. My point is that every one is welcome just like when Chad Erikson or any of the other great wrestlers and coaches are out there. And I never said or tried to take credit for any kid or team that too is my point, I was asked, and I gave a answer, and I've done a little more than gripe. Best of luck to Nick next season

13887, Tell me or show me why Scott West wouldn't be the #1 seed in section 2AA.
They have a solid team with great depth for injuries or whatever else. Placing number 2 one year is great but you could be losing all of your studs due to graduation therefore your not building your team your rebuilding your team the following year. Good luck on getting second place that next year.

Brad what does that have to do with Scott West being the #1 seed. Maybe we will see this coming year my friend.

What does a Faribault Westling fan-parent have to do with 2AA? You should be worried about 1AAA or should i say Albert Lea and Owatonna? 103# 1AAA is gonna be stacked as well as 112? Teamwise i think Faribault has a chance?

That rumor has been out for some time - Scott West keeps things close to the vest though. They have been able to keep off the radar for their transfers - unlike Apple Valley.

My suggestion would be to ask "Buttkickers", cuz he knows everything about section 2aa...

They're creating two teams Scott West 1 and Scott West 2 this way they can get the gold and silver in section 2aa.

Now that football season is well under way and the wrestling buzz has has started in some areas. Would anyone care to start a top 3 to 4 for each weight class to start off the pre-season discussions for 2AA. Season starts in 55days! :D
