Yub, You got it right. You forgot about the commitment from the parents and the alumni who keep coming back and supporting the program even years after they or their kids have left the program or graduated or whose kids have graduated. I have never seen so many parents so involved it a sport. This involvement is unmatched by any other sport I have been involved with. This leads to great success and feeds the program. SW reloads. Success leads to more success and more people who want to be apart of that success. The program then feeds itself. You wrestle good kids and you get better. Everyone in the room benifits from its'success. This is hard to beat as so is SW. |

I kinda included them in the community part of my post. Your post helped to define what I mean (Thanks). I too see how it's not a single entity but a entire family and attitude. I'm wondering how big of a role the ability of people to put there ego's in check plays? I think that ego's are a problem in most programs. I know of a couple instances where ego's have really turned things sower. |

Yub, You hit on another good point. Everyone needs to work together. Anyone with a big Ego and who thinks he or his/her kid IS the program will poisen the program. No one person is a team. It takes more than just 14 good wrestlers to make a great team. Everyone does their part. Everyone does their best. Everyone succeeds. I have often noted some of the best wrestlers I have come to know often come from great parents ( Tony Valek and company (Chuck and Monica) come to mind). Parent leaders, still involved even with the kids out of high school, who have every right to have an Ego as big as a mountain but instead are the nicest, modest people you will ever meet and Tony is also just as great and involved ( as is his older All American brother Ryan). People to imitate. |

OLDMATRASLER, I agree but I would add that administrators, boosters, and yes even coaches and staffs need to keep their ego's in check as well. No one individual knows everything about any single activity. Therefore the more help (properly directed) a program can get the better off that program becomes. Poison can come from anywhere! In my opinion ego's are among the deadliest poison in any program or sport.. |

Wrestling really gets into the swing of things beginning tonight. It's always interesting to see how lineups are different after the break. Among Wright County duals tonight: Delano and Glencoe-Silver Lake square off...WM/ML vs Litch @ 6:00, WM vs MLLC @ 7:30....Hutch hosts Mound and Dassel-Cokato. Still searching for the top four teams...Scott West, W-M/ML, Hutchinson and New Prague thus far. |

So there are co-op teams that do wrestle at other venue sites other than the host team....that is, some co-op teams. |

This is the first time this pairing has done so. Everything was in Hutchinson a year ago. It should be fun for the Mustangs (three on varsity - one injured who is returning next week - and one on JV) who travel each day to Hutchinson to wrestle in their home gym. As for other local pairings, I found out a few weeks back Glencoe-Silver Lake used to once in a while wrestle duals in Lester Prairie, but because they didn't want to run the scorers table, pay the workers, etc. they don't get to host anymore. BLH(now S) used to host events in Hector when they were paired with BOLD. They have a very nice gym for wrestling with lots of seating. Hutch's youth is growing up faster than I expected. They have showed some real grit and in turn, are 4-0 in the WCC and have only lost one dual to Scott West. They have two kids battling injuries still, but hopefully they'll both be ready for key conference duals with WM/ML and A/ML and the Kimball Invite on the 15th. |

That was not the issue for GSL and Lester. They will be having a dual, in Lester, next year. |
