Hoping you're right OHS !!!!!!!!! I think a steady diet of "nails" for breakfast, and he could be a contender :) . Pretty sure he wrestled very close matches with the kids mentioned. |

He wrestled a tuff, close match with my son in the OHS gym, and I will stick with my prediction! Good luck Collin! "Heavyweights rule!, and little guys too!" |

I know of your kid, and he's a good wrestler, now some way Colin has to " bottle" that match, get focused for sections. He's been a little tentative as of late, this will come , he's only a sophmore, but if he can really start to believe in himself, the next copule of week, who knows. Everyone knows you have to bring it them two days!! |

Today or tonight. Last year it was on the Monday because of Valentine's Day being on Sunday. This year with it being on Monday, it's being held today. With Delano's win over a Braunshausen-less Waconia Thursday, I see it going: 1. SW 2. WM/ML 3. Hutch/BLHS 4. New Prague 5. St. Peter 6. MLLC 7. Waconia 8. GSL/LP 9. Delano 10. East 11. New Ulm |

MSHSL says Jordan HS First round: GSL/LP vs ME - should be a good match. The Panthers could have a big lead through 140 pounds, but will they be able to hang on? Prediction: GSL by 5 or 6 points Delano/Waconia - rematch from a very tight one Thursday. Delano won seven of the final eight matches to make a huge comeback. Prediction: Wildcats by 1 or 2 points MLLC/New Ulm - Coyotes in a landslide, although would like to see Friederich bump up and wrestle Derksen. Prediction: MLLC by 20-24 points 4/5 and 3/6 matchups will be fairly tight. Hutch/BLHS and MLLC will definitely be different than 41-25 win on Dec. 2. There were two double forfeits and two forfeits from MLLC including Rutt at 171. Here's my breakdown: 103: Karl pin Gramling H 6-0 112: Drew pin Nelson H 12-0 119: Lloyd maj Kostelecky H 12-4 125: Brownlee maj Pundsack H 12-8 130: Madson tcfl Selly H 17-8 135: Petersen dec Traxler H 20-8 140: Friederich maj Rasmussen H 20-12 145: G. Jordahl pin Berninghus H 26-12 152: Tiede dec Settergren H 26-15 160: Mellies dec Phillips H 29-15 171: White pin Johnson H 35-15 189: Rutt pin Misch H 35-21 215: Arroyo pin Benage H 35-27 285: Piepmeier pin Burns H 41-27 OK, so not much change from the 41-25 final :) Edited by CC SportsGuy, Feb 13 2011, 09:50 PM.

I believe he's been down at 125 most of the season, but wrestling up to help the team. With the injury bug affecting Corey Petersen and Chris Schmidt (130 and 135), the Tigers really have had no choice but to wrestle four of five youngsters (Karl, Drew, Kostelecky, Pundsack and Sondergaard) between 103 and 125 and bump Madson to 130.

Hutchfan, do u think hutch will have the services of both peterson and schmidt this week? With those two in the lineup i think they are the 2nd best team in the section but w/o them they might get a scare from MLLC. |

Sure they do...number 5 seed against 4. NP beat them earlier on, but St. Peter has been wrestling a lot better since the begining of the year. I still have to go with NP on this one, but there is a chance for St. Peter. |

I understand the seeds, however, just because they are seeded close to each other doesn't mean there is a realistic shot at winning (see SW vs WMML). I haven't been able to look much myself but does St. Peter "match up" well with New Prague? I love this time of year in section 2AA! |

NP won 41-27 the first weekend of the year. I see the two swing matches being at 112 between Parriott and Retzlaff and at 160 between Mueller and McLain. Livewell - not sure on Schmidt. He wasn't practicing a week ago at this time, but a lot can change in a week. Obviously his return would strengthen the Tigers in the post-season. Pundsack at 119, Madson at 125, Schmidt at 130, Petersen at 135. Having Gannon Jordahl at 145 and Josh Piepmeier at 285 will also help the Tigers against WM/ML (if they beat MLLC first). |

Read from a friend that is an assistant at Waconia that Braunshausen has been in the room and should be good to go for sections. I take that as tomorrow. That's a 12-point swing right there against Delano. Sounds like Hutch/BLHS should be at 100 percent for the week as well. That should make them the favorite to face Scott West in the finals IMO. |

189 Taylor Neaton, WM/ML (27-4) Zach Dvorak, Scott West (27-9) Max Bullock, Waconia (20-11) There isn't a fourth wrestler worthy ??????? Nate Preston from NP pinned Zach Dvorak..........I would say that may be worthy of being mentioned as 4th. |

285 Jon Lucas, Scott West Collin Gabler, Mankato East Josh Piepmeier, Hutch/BLHS (20-10) Derek Butcher, Delano or Schoen Kichler, Waconia (20-9) I have a feeling this weight will be very competitive and any of the five listed could make it to the X. We'll see who steps it up and wants it the most!!! |
