How about a Dalbec from Delano, will he fit in somewhere here?. . . . . Hard to say, all depends upon what he has been doing this summer. As a junior last year at 120 it is likely that he may be at the same weight or, if he has been lifting a lot and put on muscle, he could be at 126. But when you look at others that may be at 120 and 126, the field is really deep unless Dalbec really steps it up. Steinbauer went to state last year, Parriott and Siegle placed 2nd and 3rd at State, and Dalbec lost 0-5 to Berg at Section last February. It is really too early to tell though. At the lower weights there is always the unpredictability of an unknown or middle schooler that surprises everybody.
I believe Dalbec is a senior this year - if he can keep his weight down (possibly 120 would be his best shot). That is the problem with being in 2AA - he is probably a kid that would make it to state in 5 other sections, but 2AA is tough!

Who from 2AA is wrestling at JJ and/or Pre-Season Nationals? It'd be nice to get updates from our guys down there to see how they're holding up! Cant wait till they start, the first big tournaments of the 2012/13 season. I am also interested in seeing how big some boys got since last year at sections!

What current seniors from thesection plan on wrestling in college? Hammerlund looked awesome at the JJ Classic and would be a great addition to any program. Any other guys looking to continue their wrestling career after their senior season?

Is Franklin still in section 2AA?
My son says he saw him in Watertown last summer and he said he was living there then!

If Franklin is at Watertown which I heard he was, wouldn't you think Torres would go 220lb after being a 195lber last year? I also believe Filk will be 220 for Hutch and would guess jordahl to go 195lb. I think Watertown could be better than people think. I am guessing the top 4 in the section will be 1 New Prauge 2 Scott West 3 Hutch and 4 will be Watertown. I think the top 4 will all be fairly close. JMO Jim

I dont think torres is afraid of Franklin. Torres proved at the state tournament last year how good he was. Franklin is well built but so is torres and so is Torres but, Torres in my opinion has much better technique. And it also depends on Torres weight. He will go down for the team side, and how big is franklin? maybe they both can make 220. That would be a awesome combo for watertown.

Considering that Watertown has a decent run at going to state, I am sure that the coaches will want Torres down at 220 so they can fill in that weight class, and then have Franklin at hwt. This way they will be solid at both weights. Franklin wrestled solidly at hwt down at preseason nationals. Also, considering that Johnson wrestled 126 at preseason nationals, I don't see him going down to 106 again. Also little Parriott went 132 at preseason nationals, so would think he would go 126 or 132, not 120. I didn't go down to watch the JJ so I don't know what weights people were at there. Other than that this list looks pretty good.

Siegle and zilverberg were also wrestling at much higher weight classes for the JJ. Did they wrestle big or were they down close to fightin weight?

I agree that Torres will probably be at 220, I forgot that Franklin went to Watertown. But I don't think that Watertown will have a chance to go to state. Our section is just to deep with Scott West, New Prague, and Hutch.

Yes, I agree. But I do think they will be in the final 4 for team sections.

The MSHL website has Hunter Retzlaff on the wrestling roster at 132 for Sibley East. Has he moved out of 2AA?

Looking at the pre season rankings they have Retzlaff at St. Peter, but it might of been just a miss, since they dont even have Elsenpeter ranked.

Well Elsenpeter is in the same position as James Berg. They both are very good wrestlers but neither made it to state.

I think both Berg and Elsenpeter are both very good wrestlers and deserve to be ranked, but they really haven't done anything to be recognized, therefore that is why I believe they didn't make the rankings.

Well, two of the 2AA teams will be at the New Prague Open this Saturday. NP should win, based off of the rankings, but it will be fun to see the other teams and how well they match up.
St. Peter and New Prague wrestle too so it'll be fun to see where everyone is at!

2AA has to be considered the toughest section in AA

25 Kids Ranked (most in AA)
3 Teams Ranked (most in AA)

Not saying any of the 2AA teams are going to win state - but the overall quality/quantity of teams and individuals seems to be the toughest in this section.
