Funny, I heard he's down atleast 1-2 weight classes.

We all know that didn't work to good for him last year. Well I should rephrase that since he did get 2nd at 135 last year. I'm thinking 145, I think he wrestles better up a weight then cutting, since he had some weird loses at 135 last year and had some pretty good ones at 140.

I was going through the NYWA results from earlier this year, didn't catch a lot of 2AA section wrestlers in there. Anyone have any ideas who the 103 studs are this year? I would think guys like Flemming and Goldberg have gotten to big. Then theres wrestlers like Rutt?, Clobes? Rydell? Braunhausen? Lloyd? Looks like this weight might be wide open.

I would not say this weight is wide open. I think Clobes will be the clear cut favorite and I'm not sure if anyone in 2AA will be able to match up with him this year.

Matt Elsenpeter from WML should contend for one of the spots. If Rutt is at 103, she also could contend for a spot. Loyld could also be in the mix.

I think both Rydell and Braunhausen will be too big for 103, but we will have to wait to see. Could Seck from Delano make 103 again? If any of these 3 can make 103 again this year, they would also be considered one of the favorites, along with Clobes.

I appericate your feed back, but you more or less confirmed what i said and in your words leaves only one clear cut favorite, doesn't that leave it pretty "wide open", then. I was looking for some "dark horses" out of theses programs, kids I should watch for. What grade is Seck in? thought he was older?

Rutt wasnt a small 103 pounder last year and kind of doubt that she will be back there I would guess 112 but Im not sure. Any insight Jared?

Seck will be a Sr. He looks like to me a kid that may be full grown already or possible a very late bloomer, post high school. Could he be one of those rare Srs. who can wreslte 103?

Zilverberg from Scott West. Not sure how big he is, but he probably will be big enough to wrestle 103 this year.

Not sure what is in the hopper @ 103# at NU, ME, SP.

I agree with you that Rutt was not a small 103 pounder last year. But I think you need to look at the "girl" factor. Un-like boys, women typically physically mature earlier and Rutt could very well already be full grown, so it would not surprise me to see her at 103 again this year.

Wouldnt surprise me if Rutt stayed small. One uncle wrestled 98(?) back in the day and was a state champion as soph or jr do not remember. Also has another uncle that was a 119 pounder as a senior. But then again cant forget about big Jim Rutt who weighed in at a powerful 189.... maybe she gained 50 pounds in the off season and will wrestle 152!

Re: Natalie Rutt's uncle...
Matt Biesk; Jr. year was ClassAA champ 1987 @ 105 pounds.
Wrestled 132 pounds at the Wayzata Qualifier 2 weeks later.

Back to the topic.... my report from New Prague is to expect a much improved team effort this year. Not sure on weights, but we have had 11 "projected Varsity" wrestlers run practice at our Community Ed. fall youth wrestling program Mon-Thurs the past three weeks. Looks like they are spread pretty even 103-285.

No returning State entrant, not top 4 preseason. I do expect this team to be on the radar later in the season.

Yeah Natalie is pretty big but she will be fighting to see 103 on the scale. I know it was pretty tough for her to make it for Fargo, but don't ever tell a girl she can't do somthing, typical girl. First people tell her a girl can't wrestle and then I tell her she can't make 103, big mistake, shes stubborn!

Elsenpeter was down near the bottom of 103 last year from what I heard from the guys at weigh-ins so he will almost certainly be back at 103.

I had heard that Seck had trouble making 103 but that may have just been talk. Might have to talk to my inside source in Delano on that 1. Pays to know one of the coaches.

WOW, this is going to be a tight race to the finish! Has it started yet?

It should be fun, Seniors giving it their last shots. I would suspect the teams that are knocked out of the football playoffs, have been meeting under "captain practices". Offically it starts Nov. 24th, with most teams going off the first Saturday in December. One to check out is the Rochester tourney, Dec. 6th, some pretty good teams there!

Thats a tough question, years ago it was the three Rochester teams, sprinkled with a few class team A, tough, yet managable. Now you have the likes of Albert Lea, Apple Valley, Anoka etc, ouch lol, big programs. Hey everyone thinks Mankato, ewww, big school, yet were the smallest enrollment wise in the Big Nine. Have to get the word out to get some younger kids to go out, mold them, we've gone through the wrestling families, now we have to mold new faces. I don't know where their weight is, but I'll give it a stab, list a few of the better guys: Wyatt Derynck 125-130, Daniel Davis 145-152, Nate Roberts ( lots of funk)152-160, Dylan Fast ( took Anthony Mathoweitz New Ulm to O.T. last year) 171-189, Nick Ackerman 189-215, Matt Schoenberg 215, and our heavy Paul Kratkze, maybe this is the year he can make it too state.

This is what I see for New Prague line up
103 Rutt -Cole
112 Rutt
119 Redding-Parriott
125 Redding -Parriott
130 Dolezal
135 Minnette
140 Muller
145 Reinhart
152 Cole
160 Sirek
171 Sirek-Deitz
189 Reinke
215 Molitor
285 Baranick-Svobada

I think New Prague coaches will be moving people as needed.
If Rutt makes 103 Which Im told she will New Prague will start alot of matches with a six point lead going to 112

I just looked at G. rankings, 14 2AA wrestlers ranked so far.

I think that list will be growing as the season progresses.

We are currently exploring another option. It would have Scott West coming to Montgomery on Friday, January 23rd to wrestle in a Quad with MLLC, Hastings and Glencoe-Silver Lake.

Would be nice to get SW back in the schedule but that would be a lot of wrestling back to back days. Not to mention match count issues at the end of the season for some.

I hope to see this Quad. A couple pretty good matches, SW vs. Hastings and MLLC vs. SW. Scott West always seems to pull average kids out of the wood work and turn them in to studs. Can't wait to see who they pulled out this year.
