Scott West won the coin flip, had their full line up in, and for some reason Giles wasnt wrestling. Those were 3 things that went SW way and they lost. If you dont think that NP will get 2 pins again the last 2 matches, then you are a bigger homer than most!
You act like NP pulled off a few upsets to miraculously pull by. They didn't give up bonus points and won. If it was any other team, you would give the advantage to the winner. But since it's Scott West, they must have had a bad match right?
I was not in attendance, but wasn't LaFavor on his back in the first?? A lot of close matches, 6 "forsures" (IMO) Flynn, Reinartz, Ziverberg, Fogarty, Dahlke, and Preston.

Knutson got teched and Maruska got majored, that's called bonus points.

And you must be some super fan that you knew who won the flip, I bet that 10 out of 14 varsity wrestlers don't know who won the flip each match. You are Mr. Trojan wrestling or Coach T told you what to call??? Hmmm
My son told me. :) Nice try bud.

All 3 of my boys have their own last time I checked. My daughter doesn't have a name though :) couldn't get that one as excited for wrestling as I hoped to! Hopefully those clues will help your quest on finding out peoples names! I always loved Sherlock Holmes. Or maybe Ace Ventura would better relate, depending on your age?

I was in attendance and from my perspective, LaFavor was never in too much trouble. His grasp slipped on an opening throw and he ended up on his back which he got out of handily (looked like he landed hard and lost his breath though). At the beginning of the second period he had recovered and controlled the match until it ended in a pin. Zilverberg over Parriott is not a forsure. Parriott controlled the match and led by two until half way through the 3rd and Zilverberg escaped and got the takedown which put him behind by one. Parriott had nothing to lose to get the escape and got caught in a roll/sit out. That match could easily go the other way next time. Two very talented wrestlers who can each take advantage of slight mistakes made by the other. Zilverberg came out on top that time around. As been stated before, both coaches will be working on the finer points for the next matchup but these are kids. Hopefully everybody stays healthy, keeps up thier grades, and stays focused. Whoever comes out of 2AA will be a good representative of the section and give Simley, Foley, or KM a run for thier money.

Sorry, don't see it ever being that close again, they may never wrestle each other again.
I will be cheering for NP in February, very proud of all 2AA teams, we all know the toughest road to the X goes through Waconia. :-)

I understand where you are coming from. But people act like SW is the only team to have the ability to make adjustments, or win for that matter. I just feel they get the benefit of the doubt when they lost.
If they would have beaten NP by 1 point, many would be saying how the next time it won't even be close.
If anything I think they will beat them worse next time.. Yeah I said it :)
(gosh will I be getting pounded by "quoters" in about a month and a half if/when I'm wrong LOL)

I just love watching wrestling. And, just like in any sport, the fans enjoy the tight battles. Hearing most people say it won't be close ruins the fairytale of a lot of us fanatics, who would like to see a new face from 2AA at State! Ha
Its kind of funny. The first weekend of the year N-P fans were making excuses of why they didn't beat Chatfield worse. "didn't wrestle to their ability" "guys were out" Chatfield got all the breaks". Now SW fans are doing the same to them. From the sounds of it, it was a great dual and both teams should be looking forward to the next time they meet. Hopfully in the section finals. It would be a great rematch. All that these excusses do is disrespect the other teams effort. Congrats to both teams and good luck the rest of the year.

Pretty much anyone who was at the match and was paying attention at the beginning knew who won the flip, since the PA announcer said who won the flip and what that meant prior to the first match.

Or if you were listening to the radio - as they announced it over the radio that SW won the flip too.

I think ppl are overlooking GSL a bit. They may not be the favorite to win the section but they match up with some teams well enough to be a very scary quarter final foe. They have the ability to play "spoiler".

Livewell has a real good point. Half the Glencoe team is in the Metro Honor Roll today.
106 Jacob Jewett 16-3
113 Aaron Donnay 13-7
120 Michael Donnay 15-1
126 Brandon Richter 15-4
138 Nate Tesch 13-3
152 Mitch Hartwig 15-1
195 Dalton Clouse 13-4

NP and SW would be favored but Glencoe may have the ability to pull an upset. All three teams pair up quite well as far as strength against strength.

Nope, working 4-12, and if I wasn't I'd be in Dubuque, IA watching MK wrestle in an open. Haven't made it to a SW match yet, kind of embarrassing.

That is actually really funny. This NP team beat Scott West. There is no way they will give up 52 points to Watertown.
