I want to congradulate Wisconsin for a national championship you have to be a good sport when you lose. Minnesota can be proud of the wrestling we have in this state 7 finals in the last nine duels over the last two years congradulations on your runner up finish in Greco Cadet. Now lets go out and win the Freestlyle National Championship.

MN thought we had it won on criteria because they had a wrestler get DQed, but I guess because they did not take away a team point they could not use that for first criteria. Sad loss, but the boys wrestled their hearts out in every dual!!
Wrestling and beating PA was an intense dual!!

Why did the wrestler get DQed? I have seen where headgear throwing costs a team a point. There seems to be pretty much zero tolerance for unsportsmanlike conduct at these duals...(as there should be)
Can you run-down how we lost on criteria?

Nevertheless, some outstanding wrestling by MN Cadets!!! Great effort.

The wisconsin wrestler was DQ'd for having three cautions - 2 leg fouls and the third was for head-butting. However it was not a penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct so it was just a DQ on the 3 cautions. Wisconsin wins on the 2nd criteria, which was most wins -9 matches to 8 matches.
Congratulations to both Minnesota and Wisconsin on a well wretsled championship match.

Tom Kuisle sent me a copy of the NEW National Duals Rules that the USWOA asked him to write.
I think something could be said for the NEW- - or really not so new rules- that Tom Kuisle was asked to write for the national duals.
Article 12. 2 -number 2 stated that:
Butting is an act of Flagrant Misconduct and not a third caution, but a disqualifcation carring a manditory team point.
If the referee did call a wrestler for an intentional head butt- -he is disqualified.
Since this was the finals, and your top officials work the finals, I am surprized that it was simple called a third caution for a butt.
Last year in the Junior duals, ther was a similar event on a tie. And the misconduct gave the win to the other team.
I am not sure that a head butt was called. Maybe it was not a head butt that was callled. If it was the rule is clear.
If it was unnecessary roughness- - then it would simply be a third caution.
The coaches will have to tell us what happened, but if it was for BUTTING
then it is flagrant misconduct- -and a team point should have been deducted.,
Before the next match was started, maybe that is what happened.
Wisconson is the champions anyway, and we could have been!
