Just finished watching this and wow were there some good fights. The main event had Carlos Condit vs Hiromitsu Miura...I was kind of expecting Condit to destroy Miura but boy it turned out to be a real back and forth battle with Condit finally knocking him out at late in the fourth...I am not even sure it was a knock out...it looked like Miura just collapsed from exhaustion after receiving a glancing knee to the head. Stann against Cantell was another great fight. This was a rematch; Stann won the last match by knock out. Another great battle but Cantell ended up reversing the outcome by knocking out Stann late in the second. This was a great match, both guys left it all on the line. Jamie Varner knocked out Marcus Hicks early in the first...I have never seen a man take such a beating and just keep going... Brock Larson looked like his old self knocking out Carlo Prater(completely unconcious!!) about 30 seconds into the first round....landed a perfect left straight donw the middle right on the button. This was a great event...if you haven't seen it catch one of the replays, it will be worth your time!! |

I knew there was a reason to get VS... Told mother too... didn't happen haha. I had read a rumor over on Sherdog about the UFC and WEC merger??? Supposedly, they proposed 155 over to WEC (I doubt this would ever happen.), and all 205s and 185s (Paulo Filho included) to the UFC, with the choice for 170s. |

There was a rumor a few months back regarding merging weights, but nobody has said anything about it for a while, and the latest reports were that it was off the table. The WEC just signed a few a top prospects at 185/205, so I don't see them shutting that down. |

Looks like i am a dummy. They are now planning on folding in the 185/205. Good thing I got out when I did. I wouldn't want to get beat up by all the big, bad UFC fighters. |

Hopefully we'll get to see Filho-Silva now... some other decent matchups out of that too. What about the LW situation? Any news on that? |

Logan, you would really do well in the Middleweight class in the UFC...you would easily be in the top 5 in that weight class....Is it your choosing not to be in the UFC or is it just their retardation for not recognizing true talent? :D |

Is there a point and time though, if they both are the real deal, and they see Filho as the only guy there to match with Spider, that it happens? |

....I suppose anything is possible...Henderson and Lindland are great freinds but they both have said they would have absolutely no problem "punching each other in the grill"....that would be a great fight by the way..... |

Does this happen in MMA quite a bit? I know I would feel funny fighting a fellow teammate, or close friend... but in the end, if you both have mutual respect, nothing should come out of it... My coach used to tell us, "You can be friends outside the room. You should be. But once you step into this room, you're enemies. What happens in here, stays in here." I had heard Silva didn't stay at 205 because he didn't wanna lock horns with Machida (I'm kind of diggin' Machida as a fighter... he could be a big success.)? I remember watching Spencer Fisher and Drew McFedries i think, (they teammates right?), go at it on Unleashed once, and they fought, and that was it... No need to be scared of your teammate in the fight game... |

I don't like Machida's style at all.....he is strictly a counter puncher and spends a lot of time dodging action...much like Florian did against Huerta. Kenny "I finish fights" Florian ....what a joke....watching him do the running man for the entire fight...he should be ashamed of himself. |

Atleast someone agrees with me on Florian... He #$^@%ed around and ran from Huerta... What happens with him though, BJ wants GSP (I laughed at his voice. Like he could actually hold his own against GSP)? KenFlo, you should be ashamed... But worse, what happens to Roger now? |

BJ and GSP have fought once already.....BJ bloodied up GSP very bad in the first round of their last fight...I am pretty sure he broke GSP's nose....but GSP stormed back in the last two rounds...As much as it pains me to say it, I think PENN will give GSP a pretty hard time. If GSP takes him deep into the championship rounds I believe PENN will gas, however. |

I'm not likely to claim that I would walk in an be top five there, but thanks for the kind words. I was in the UFC for a fight before Zuffa (UFC's parent company) purchase the WEC. I was able to extend my contract and had the same terms as my UFC deal, but they just didn't get me enough fights. I need to fight often. Plus, the money is much better on my current deal in Japan. Because I agreed to fight a top-ten guy in my first match, I am making a good bit more now for my show money than I was making for my entire compensation in the WEC. I don't like their pay structure, which is usually 50% to show and 50% to win. Now I have a 5:2 (with the possibility of moving up to 6:2 or 7:2) show:win ration rather than the 1:1
This doesn't happen to often since most promoters know better than to try to make those match-ups. You can say that nothing should come of it, but the physical act of getting ready for the fight would be seriously hindered for at least one of the teammates. If these guys share coaches, how can a coach be expected to train both guys? And they'll certainly be sharing training partners as well. Especially in the midwest, there simply aren't enough good camps for someone to be able to leave their regular group and join a new crew for one fight. Plus, no other camp is going to want you for one fight. I don't even match guys from my gym in Rochester up with guys from my gym in the cities for the most part. I would end up training both fighters, and I can't avoid one of my training areas simply because one of my guys happens to fight one of their guys.
Machida is also a teammate, and Silva thinks that 205 is Machida's class to dominate.
Fisher is 155 McFedries is 185. It would likely be Stephens vs Fisher that you are thinking of. They had trained together a few times in the past but were not regular training partner. It isn't fear that keeps teammates from fighting. It is logistics and loyalty to a training group. Guys shouldn't be sitting in training thinking that they need to hold something back or hide some skills because they might have to fight one day. There is plenty of other talent to match-up with, so this sort of thing should only come about on a rare occasion. |

I had heard Machida trains with them out in FL with Nog and Silva and such. Stephens could have been it... I remember They were both Miletic (sp) guys fighting... |
