I got my next fight finalized the other day. It's annoying to take another fight on short notice, but I never really get out of shape, and I sure like fighting, so I can handle this.

I'm going to be part of World Victory Road's Middleweight Grand Prix. My first round fight will be against Jorge Santiago. He is likely a favorite to win the tourney and has been on a tear lately with a five fight win streak (including submitting Jeremy Horn).

He has a dangerous right hand and knees, but he is also a BJJ Black Belt, so I am going to go with my usual plan to stand and bang. Maybe I'll take him down if the fight goes to a later round, but his chin has been suspect in the past, so I'm just going to go ahead and test it.

If anyone wants to see some of his fights, I can post some links. I'll be back to give updates on training and whatnot.

I'm about 27lbs overweight, but that doesn't trouble me too much. I'm not too injured, and I'm in good shape, but I think the main thing that has me feeling good is my great affinity for fighting.

I think the nick name "the pink pounder" is absolutely the best nick name in the history of professional sports....I would ask Logan to explain how he got the nick name.....but the moderators would probably intervene....

Santiago is the real deal...should be a great challenge for you. I am really impressed with the drastic improvement in your hands that you showed in your fight with Misaki...If my memory serves me correctly, Santiago's chin appeared a little suspect in a couple of his fights prior to his win streak. I think you land the same combinations you were landing Misaki in your last match. Santiago will be getting a visit from Mr Sandman...

Any links would be appreciated....all us MMA freaks would truly appreciate it.

I'm the Pink Pounder of most websites.

Yeah, strangely tough draws twice in a row. I'm cool with it though. I'm not too concerned about a record. I just like tough fights and making a little money.

My standup has improved quite a bit, and my coaches are trying to tell me that it is even better now. They are probably just building my fragile ego.

Santiago was KOed twice right before his win streak started. He claims to be a far more complete fighter than when he was in the UFC. I hope so.

Good luck to both Logan Clark and Travis Wiuff, pretty amazing that 2 guys from SE Minnesota are making names for themselves in MMA. Is Sengoku 5 on PPV or shown anywhere? Logan, please let us know how both you and Travis do and some details.

Travis's opponent dropped out with a rib injury. He is still flying out tomorrow but still doesn't know who he will be fighting.

The only television deal is in Japan for this event, but you can usually find a stream of the event online. It would start around 2/3 AM our time, but you can just wait until later in the day to get the fights when they are listed on dailymotion.com or mma-core.com

Logan, besides cutting weight, what do you when you are this close to a fight? Do you have a gym or a specific group of guys you can roll with over there? How many cornermen do you bring with you?

I should really get to bed now.

They pay for flying out two cornermen. I brought Nick "The Goat" Thompson and Andrew "I have really good Muay Thai" Kapel with me. Nick has been cornering me since last Summer although he wasn't officially in my corner for the last fight as he was fighting that night. He did, however, sit cageside and yell things. It was like having corner's everywhere with him on one side and Greg Nelson on another. Andrew is one of my sparring partners. He is getting into MMA and grappling, but I use him primarily for striking help.

I don't do too much. This week I did a lot of mit work, some grappling, and light cardio. We take our taper/rest weeks very seriously. Since I just got in late tonight, I only got one really light workout in this evening. I'll likely start out with some grappling in the morning tomorrow followed by mit work and more grappling in the afternoon, and then I might head out for the sauna tomorrow night to get an early start on the weight drop. I get to weigh in at noonish Saturday, which is earlier than usual, but it also means that I will have to be in the sauna early that morning. That's why I'll likely get in there Friday night too. I'm still loading up on liquids, but I will cut those out completely at the 24 hour to go mark.

Yes, you need your rest....that time change must be a killer :(

Update us when it is convenient for you....we are pretty lucky to have someone at your level representing us. B) I know many of us are curious as to what takes place the week prior to the fight...both the mental and physical preparation....I can't even imagine.

Logan, here is some bulletin board material from http://www.fcfighter.com/news

Reporter's name is By Jeff "Wombat" Meszaros

Jorge Santiago vs Logan Clark

Ever since he was cut from the UFC, Santiago has been steamrolling the middleweight division. For the octagon matchmaker, that must be like dumping a girl and then running into her a week later to see that she'd gotten wicked plastic surgery and now is ten times hotter than she was when you were jumping her bones; and now hates you. Based on the very little research I've done, Clark's nickname appears to be "The Pink Pounder". That is creepy. My Guess: Santiago by TKO

as if the nickname "Wombat" isn't a little creepy.. <_< ..

Perhaps if the Wombat is there you can knock Santiago's head right onto his lap....well maybe that's a bit much....

Travis's opponent dropped out with a rib injury. He is still flying out tomorrow but still doesn't know who he will be fighting.

It appears they have announced Travis's new opponent..

Travis Wiuff confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that his new opponent for the upcoming Sengoku 5 event in Tokyo this weekend will be recent Team Quest (Murrieta) acquisition Muhammad “Mo” Lawal.

Lawal has an impressive freestyle amateur wrestling background, with accolades including the 2002 NCAA Division II National Championship, and First Place finishes at the 2006 U.S. Open and 2007 Pan-American Games.

Most recently the native Coloradan finished second at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials, just missing out on an opportunity to compete in recent Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

This will be Mo’s first MMA bout, as he joins Team Quest (Gresham) lightweight Ryan “The Lion” Schultz on the card.

Wiuff – a veteran of over 60 MMA bouts – will be making his second trip to Sengoku after knocking out Japanese “Iron Head” Kazuyuki Fujita at the promotion’s third event this past June.

I think Lawal is jumping a little too deep into the waters....only way he can win is if he takes him down and stalls out a decision.

It's funny that the Wombat guy feels qualified to make a prediction based on very little research. The "journalists" in this sport often aren't much for actual journalism. I don't see me getting TKOed.

Yeah, I talked to Travis's new opponent last night very briefly. Travis at least knew about it before we flew out.

I'm 6.5 kilos over this morning. 14.3 lbs for you non-metric folks.

Dropped a few kilos in a morning workout, but I didn't cut water out until noontime here, so I put a little of that back on. Now it's time for no food or water until weighins around noon tomorrow.

I just got done with my prefight interviews and photos. Weird thing, I had my voice recorded for making ringtones, "This is the Pink Pounder, Logan Clark, pick up your phone." I hope two people buy that one.

The folks who interview me always get a kick out of my pink toenails and my talk about farming.

Here is Santiago's interview on Sherdog...

http://www.sherdog.com/videos/recent/Santi...Tournament-1783

Although he doesn't trash talk Logan, he says the two guys he is worried about are Kazuhiro Nakamura and Evangelista "Cyborg" Santos. It says he watched Logan's last fight and the Logan was a "Tough Guy". It sounded like he was a little disappointed with his drawing of Logan....

Welll that's absolutely great news for the Pink Pounder.....he is looking past this fight.....keep touching his chin and he will go down..

Good luck to you Logan....hands up; chin down..

Just had to drop 3 or so kilos this morning. I'm pretty messed up right now, so I don't really remember. I'm .1 kilo under after the prelim weigh in. Official weighin in a half hour.
