Since i became engulfed in the entertainment of Mixed Martial Arts, i've attempted to show it off, show my friends, tell them... whatever to see if people liked it, and found a similar interest with them. Today, however, i was quite angered... There are some "acquaitances" of mine, that think they know all about MMA, because they watch Fight Night and the occasional UFC Unleashed. Now, these guys, for your description, think Chuck Lidell is still god. Houston Alexander should get a title shot due to his killer KO's, and that Brock Lesnar will be the HWT Champ due to his performance in WWE. I asked these "acq's" today whta they thought of the LightHeavyweight Title picture, just making conversation. (them) "Chuck Lidell, or Rashad Evans. Definitely." (me)"What about Wandy, Page, Machida??? I heard Machida and Shogun are going at it for a title shot, atleast i think..." (them) "Machida by far... Shogun sucks." (me) "Do you even know who Shogun is?" (them)"No, but Machida is a beast!" I then educated them on who Shogun is and such. This really angered me... Its like, they're just idiotic on purpose to me... And im pretty sure they didnt know who Machida was until last week when i exposed them due to my t shirt i wore, and they looked him up on Youtube... Does this happen to everyone? I hate to think people are listening to these fools about anything in MMA. I mean, i'm all for fans... and i don't mean to sound like a snob... but i'm really bothered by the fact that they run they're mouth, and don't know as much as tehy do. I come off as a jerk, but i'm only trying to educate. I don't mean to sound above them or anything, but these guys talking to people, telling them Alexander is the man, and having some new fan watch Alexander get grinded out in a 3 round doozie and turning them off kind of scares me. I could be getting ahead of myself, and what not... but dude, cmon... Chuck? :D |

Just be happy they are showing interest in the sport you love...it makes for interesting discussion when you are watching UFC's with your buddies....9 times out of 10 you end up being right. Man, I look at the growth of the sport over the last four years and it is absolutely unbelievable. I remember when I used to get UFC's, no one had any interest in coming over to watch. Now I have a housefull of guys screaming "he's going for the kamura; he's going for a kamura!!"....3 years ago they thought "kamura" was japanese for "camera" :D MMA is the pefect sport for wrestlers to transition over to....that includes you Cropduster!! Maybe in 6 or 7 years we will be watching you slap a Kamura on someone in UFC 150 at the EXCEL center...maybe it will against Machida. |
