Interim heavyweight champion, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira will face Frank Mir, while light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin returns to action defending his belt against Rashad Evans and Wanderlei Silva goes for three in a row against former 205lb champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson.

I think the Mir vs Nog will be a one sided affair...with Nog making short work of him...but Jackson vs Silva will be one for the ages.

I would agree that Nog will beat Mir and also that Rampage and Silva will be phenomenal. I also like Forrest to beat Rashad Evans, I think he's too well rounded and he has definitely shown he can take a punch !

Just explain to her that it's a once-in-a-lifetime kind of thing. Only problem there is that she's going to get pretty upset when you hit her up for the UFC event on Super Bowl weekend!

Oh well. I've been to two UFC events, and it's worth it. The price is insane, but it's so much fun.

But you're right duster ... you need a job!

I see Mir going back to his wrestling roots (Nevada State Champion) and winning a decision by getting some ground and pound. Nog is a better submission grappler but Mir has a size advantage. Nog has better standup but I think Mir will out game plan Nog.

I have a hard time believing Mir stands a chance. If the refs dont stop Lesnar because of the bogus back of the head shots, Mir would have spent considerable time in the hospitable for the second time in his career. If Lesnar can do that much damage in only a couple of minutes, imagine what Nog could do?

Nog is powerful, but not quite at the same level as Lesnar, POWER-WISE.
dont mistake that for fighting-wise, because Nog is definitely atop of the HWT Div in the UFC...
Mir, well, he's obviously he has skillz, his jits is pretty darn good, and his wrestling is something else.
But Nog has the Jits of a ninja, the standup to beat faces in, and enough wrestling to pound the #$%^ out of Mir!

Out gameplan Nog?
Really?
Thats a clever idea, Dre... Never even thought about that...

Oh, and PM... I'm in school, give me a break! lol

I'd say anyone with a ground game like Mir's "stands a chance." But I think Nog is a little better at everything.

Nog isn't unbeatable ... the only question is ... is he past his prime? I say he is, but he's still good enough to beat Mir.

evans vs griffin sounds like a great fight. griffin can take a punch but i have also seen liddell take monster punches and still keep fighting and evans ko'ed him. evans just moves too much. should be an exciting fight. to me nog v mir easiest of the three fights to predict. nog will win i believe.

I dont see Griffin-Evans to be TOO amazing...
Evans isn't teh amount of striker that Page is, and Griffin hung and beat Page...
But, i also saw Evans not standing a chance against Chuck...

...I just can't get pumped up about Evans and Forrest either...its hard to figure Evans out. He really has had two high light real finishes (Lidell and Salmon)..but if you watch the fights prior to those "incredible finished" there is little or no action.

I think Rashad will win 2 of the first three rounds, but this is a championship fight. Forrest will either finish him in the fourth or fifth...or squeak out a decision victory.

I hope Forest lays the wood to Rashad...and it is possible. Remember, this is a 5 round fight...Rashad can normally frustrate an opponent into making a mistake, but I think if Forest stays sticks to a game plan and follows it, he will win a 5 round decision.

Silva just mentally owns Rampage....much like Anderson Silva owns Rich Franklin. Look for a beat down and a late second round stoppage.

I agree...here is the card in its entirety.

Prelimins

Dan Evensen 10-3-0 Vs. Pat Barry 3-0-0 (The Viking should win because I have no idea who Pat Barry is?? :D )

Ryo Chonan 14-8-0 Vs. Brad Blackburn 13-9-1(flying knee bar!!)

Matt Hamill 6-1-0 Vs. Reese Andy 7-2-0 (I wish Hamill the best..just not impressed with him so far...

Antoni Hardonk 7-4-0 Vs. Mark Burch 9-2-0 (Hardonks kicks are from another planet)

Yushin Okami 23-4-0 Vs. Dean Lister 11-5-0 (Should be on main card)

Televised...

Cheick Kongo 22-4-1 Vs. Mustapha Al-Turk 6-3-0 (Who?) (Should be a prelim fight)

Wanderlei Silva 32-8-1 Vs. Quinton Jackson 28-7-0 (RIP Jackson)

CB Dollaway 8-2-0 Vs. Mike Massenzio 11-2-0 (should be a prelim fight)

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira 31-4-1 Vs. Frank Mir 11-3-0 (It will be the worst 2 minutes of Mir's life)

Forrest Griffin 16-4-0 Vs. Rashad Evans 16-0-1 (Look for the ever elusive Rashad to finally get caught in a five rounder)

CHONAN!

haha... he's such a character and really a skilled mixed martial artist.

Nog, Dollaway, Griffin... Wanderlei, Hamil, Okami...
Just by my bias of liking a fighter more...

The last 2 free cards were way more exciting than the UFC 92 fights. I only saw about the last 3 or 4 fights, but they were pretty boring.

Oh, im eating crow alright...
1. I was completely wrong about Silva beatin the $%^# outta Rampage. I let my heart get too far into this pick, as many others as well.
2. I still hate Mir, but respect him as a fighter for taking down the Brazillian Beast that is Noguiera.
3. I'm feeling sick tonight, thats the only reason i'm making this appologetic post ;)

greatest thing about Mir winning is the Lesnar/Mir rematch. I hope Lesnar destroys him. I dislike him even more after watching him coach in last seasons TUF

I agree with you...the only reason I am glad that Mir won is that Brock will get a second shot at him....I have to admit, Mir looked really good tonight...his striking was tight and obviously he had no intention of testing his ground skills against Nog...

I can't figure out want Wandy's strategy was...he destroyed Jackson using the Mui Thai Plum in the last two fights..yet he never attempted to clinch even once in this fight...what a crappy strategy <_<

Hey guys i was just reading some of the posts you guys wrote about Nogueira aka "The Nog" going to reck Frank mir? I really don't see anything dangerouse at all about the nog on the feet. Honestly it really looks as if any pro boxer wanted to come to the ufc... who knew how to defend a take down would give nog an ass woopin with ease.. he lucked up big time to win against silva and me and about 6 of my freinds whom i box and wrestle with all called the fight to mir if mir wanted to go out and box and not risk it on the ground that is , nog looked very slow in both fights in the ufc...

Which leeds me to say this .. how on earth do you think nog could do any harm to lesnar? mir will not last long with lesnar on the feet. The only way he could win is the way he did before wich was a fluke to say the least.. I do not see mir doin gui choke nor reer naked nor arm bar of any sort on brock because of the size quickness and how strong brock is...if he's gonna tap brock he's gotta do it below the knees and i don't think brock is gonna let him.. I see a knock out or double to gnp first or early second round...

comparing Nogueira to lesnar in the fight game is like comparing Rosie O'donnel to megan fox in a beauty pageant.. but I do respect nog for the man he is because of the fights he fought but hey lets not get carried away and over rate a fighter just because of experience...

if you think what i just said sounds silly then go recap lesnars fights..
my moneys def on brock and yay for rampage jackson.
sorry to the english teachers for my speeeeelllin

Mir has a ton of talent, but he almost lost, not once, but twice to Wes Sims, the biggest tomato can in MMA...enough said...

IMO, they stopped the fight too soon...Nog has fought back from worse. <_<

Stop disrespecting Nog he has had a great career and has beaten far better competition than Brok and Mir. I also like the Mir vs Lesnar matchup but Mir looked like a whole new boxer against Nog then he did against Brock or previous fights.

And what was with Mir headbutting Nogs gloves?

Yeah, come on here with a bunch of hardcores and hate on a legend like Nog... That will make you friends real quick, Tbowl.

But in all seriousness, welcome, and we value your opinion :)
From everything i've read, alot have said he looked sluggish...
He obviously has things he needs to work on...

But Mir is still the UFC's biggest D-Bag right now. He will get absolutely SMASHED by Lesnar...
Thankyou.
