OK, so I hadn't checked mmaweekly.com all day, and I just went there now ... don't ask why I'm up this late! And, I couldn't believe what I read ... the UFC has released Jon Fitch!!!! Seriously, I'm in shock, and so is Fitch. The dude is one of the best 170ers on the planet, and he's coming off one of the best shows of guts i've ever seen, going five rounds with GSP. Fitch is one of my favorite fighters, and he was a perfect 8-0 in the UFC leading up to the GSP fight. So the guy loses to the best 170er on the planet, and he gets released? Dana has made some bone-headed moves in the past. But this one takes the cake. I've never been so ticked off at the UFC. This better be a temporary thing. Fitch deserves to be in the UFC, and I'll pay to see him fight, regardless of what organization he's with ... |

I believe this is probably the beginning of the end...Dana and Zuffa have obviously way to much power and the only option the fighters now have is to form a union. They released Fitch and Kosh after they refused to sign an agreement that would have relinquished his likeness rights for a UFC video game...in other words no other video game would have been able to use their likeness. In Fitches own words.. “The video game agreement that they have that they wanted us to sign was basically we don‘t get anything for it,” he told Morency. “We get free publicity and promotion from the game, which is great, no problem. The problem is it’s a lifetime exclusive contract. That means we would never ever be able to work with any video game companies other than the one the UFC provides.” “They basically kicked the door open, guns blazing, pointed it in our face and said, ‘Sign this or you’re going to pay,’” Fitch said. its a sad day for MMA :( |

Absolute crock! I have always defended Dana, thinking people were just jealous. But this is the final straw, what an (insert expletive)! Fitch isn't the only one either. Cain Velasquez I think is in the same boat. And it will probably effect Koscheck as well. Man, I hope Affliction does big things now. |

Yeah, this is really smart on Dana's part ... lord help us!!! He's holding fighters hostage because he knows he has the best product out there. But this is just BS. With all the events they have coming up, if he pulls this crap, I may be missing my first UFC event in five years! In the long run, maybe this will be a good thing because it's happening to such big name guys. You're talking about top 10 fighters being "cut" so hopefully this will draw enough attention (bad attention) to Dana. What a mess! |

This is a croc. (Expletive!) Dana and his UFC. The Fertita's need to fire his (expletive) butt. Dana does not think about what is best for the sport, the fans or the fighters. Dana only covers his own worthless (expletive) a$$. |

Fitch is back in... http://www.sherdog.com/news/news/fitch-bac...-ufc-fold-15249 15249 Jon Fitch's exile from the Ultimate Fighting Championship lasted less than 24 hours. Bob Cook, Fitch’s representative from Zinkin Entertainment, has informed Sherdog.com that the welterweight contender is back in the good graces of the world’s top MMA promoter. “We just spent an hour on the phone with Lorenzo [Fertitta],” said Cook, “and cooler heads have prevailed.” When asked about the negotiations, Cook stated that Fertitta and UFC President Dana White were “on the same page” when it came to their goals but that their approaches were as different as night and day. In the end, Fitch ended up signing a licensing agreement that will allow the UFC to feature him in their upcoming video game release. Throughout the media offensive he waged since being informed of his release, the former Purdue wrestling captain made it clear he had no problem signing the deal but did not appreciate what he viewed as White’s “strong-arm tactics.” White repeatedly said his decision to cut ties with Fitch were driven by an inability on Fitch’s management’s part to work with him and not because he didn’t sign the video game licensing agreement. In an expletive-laden interview with Yahoo.com, White called out nearly everyone at American Kickboxing Academy and Zinkin Entertainment, Fitch’s gym and management company. Cook, who was singled out by White as part of the problem, stated Fertitta assured him the working relationship between their camp and White was salvageable. As for the fates of welterweight contender Josh Koscheck and heavyweight prospect Cain Velasquez -- both of whom were rumored to be next on the chopping block -- as well as heavyweight Christian Wellisch, who was cut along with Fitch on Wednesday, Cook stated that all of the fighters have worked out agreements to remain with the UFC. |

Can you imagine Bud Selig or David Stern going on the tirades Dana White does? He is in the same position as head of a league. Pathetic. |

Dana isn't in the same spot as those guys ... Dana has more of a vested interest, because he's part owner of the UFC. I feel better now that Fitch is back, but I'm still not happy with Dana. At some point, he'll step in this poop too deep, and he'll lose a big chunk of his audience. I'm not a big union guy, but fighters NEED a union. They get abused by promoters at every level. They truly need a union to protect them. |

That petition already has been started a million times. He's not going to fire himself ... the only way to make it happen is to stop watching the UFC. I don't think we're mad enough at Dana to do that just yet. |

Or if more stand up to him like Fitch did, and get Fertita involved/just take the boot and head to Affliction where Atencio seems like he actually gives a flying #%^& about his fighters. Or once again, if the UFC just handed the reigns over to a powerful, caring, and intelligent Guillotine poster like... Me. :D |
