I personally dispise BJ Penn....I don't know if it is BJ per se...but listening to Mike Goldberg (His biggest nuthugger) throw out terms like "legendary" or "building his legacy" drives me right out of my mind. In a recent Sherdog article....BJ apears to be thinking about his fight after GSP...which appears to be against Anderson Silva... http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...d=7679&zoneid=2 "I'm definitely looking for mega-fights and if Anderson Silva is one of them, why not shoot for the stars?" BJ has NEVER been five rounds into a fight...I personally think GSP will finish by ground and pound in the 4th or 5th. What does everyone else think? |

I'm a BJ Penn guy. He's good. I wouldn't be surprised if he beat GSP. |

I would go with GSP because of his all-around skills and conditioning - but it is hard to bet against BJ |

BJ Penn has skills. He might be too small and unconditioned for GSP tho. |

GSP via vicious GNP and not falling into BJ's Ninjitsu... Get to 4th round, and take him out... But, I think GSP is even better on his feet, so could we see a stand up slug fest? |

BJ is going to show that the best fighter pound for pound isnt just a arguement between Anderson Silva and Fedor |

It looks like the winner of the GSP vs Penn fight will take on Anderson Silva... http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templa...d=7659&zoneid=2 |

Now, this makes money for the UFC, no doubt... but what after that? Is Anderson gonna demolish GSP/Penn, and then fight 205? or what if a 205er beats Anderson? What does GSP/Penn have to look forward to after a loss? Fighting Kos/Alves or KenFlo? I'm skeptical on these "Superfights" and what they could do to MMA... |

I completely agree. It makes no sense to have developed three or four recognized great champions just to have them beat up on each other and then have nothing left. GSP is becoming a welterweight legend. Soon he'll just be the welterweight "champion" who lost to Anderson Silva. Same with BJ Penn. Just as he becomes a lightweight legend he becomes the "champion" who lost to someone else. And it makes no sense as a business model. If you want to have 12 pay-per-view events a year, you need some champions to highlight these things. Once Lesnar and Silva beat everybody else up, what are you going to do for a pay-per-view? Makes no sense. It almost makes me wonder if the UFC owners just want to have a few big-time pay-per-views and then sell out to the highest bidder/network. Otherwise it makes no sense. |
