I've been watching. Ben Askren is in a final in a week or two against a pretty tough looking guy with a funny name.

Askren has his Championship fight tonight against Dan Hornbuckle - or something like that.
Cole Conrad is also on the fight card.

Why? He just won far more money in that than he will in a year wrestling.

Did Konrad look better than his first one? Or did he just lay on him?

Why would he do that? His win over Hornbuckle puts him among the top 10-15 welterweights in the world only a year after going pro. In a year when his contract is up he could make some big noise in the UFC.

I can see it now:

"Fighting out of the blue corner- This man is a wrestler with a professional record of six wins with zero losses. He stands 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighed in at 170 pounds. Fighting out of Tempe, Arizona.... BEN "Koscheck 2.0" ASKREN!"

Bellator's third season started last night. Cole Konrad is in the heavyweight tournament and fights next week.

The thing I don't like about Bellator is that it always follows the Twins game on FSC, so the start time is never predictable and it's difficult for me to get on my DVR.

I did not realize these fights were on last night. Sounds like Cole did well:

http://mmajunkie.com/news/20359/bellator-25-recap-konrad-grabowski-and-frausto-advance-with-decisions.mma

The main event saw Konrad do what he does best. The two-time NCAA wrestling champion used his superior grappling abilities to ground opponent Rogent Lloret for much of the 15-minute contest and allowed very little room for a counterattack. With six submission wins to his credit, Lloret was considered a viable threat from his back, but the openings simply never materialized.

Konrad's (5-0 MMA, 3-0 BFC) top game proved effective once again, and the undefeated heavyweight netted his third-straight decision win in a largely uneventful affair. Meanwhile, Lloret (9-2-1 MMA, 0-1 BFC) sees an eight-fight win streak snapped.

I wish there was more about this in the media... I hate not knowing when this crap happens. I don't watch the Twins either, so I'm basically effed.
I was browsing through channels and found it, but missed the Konrad fight.
It sounds like it was a lay-n-pray sorta deal? I wish Cole nothing but the best. I'm glad he found a future in this sport... kinda setting that example that other former wrestlers have... I like it.
Iron Chef America was alright though. :-/

Well, I think Konrad is about to get taken apart next time out. He's taking on Damian Grabowski who I think is a lot better fighter.

Cole dominated and advanced to the finals. 3 rounds of "wrestling" kept the more powerful opponent from hurting him. It was a 30-26, 30-27, 30-27 decision. Actually, the last round was a bit more even. The fight was in Milwaukee, WI.

He'll also have his work cut out for him in the finals. They said Oct, but I didn't catch the exact date. I believe they said it was to be in Kansas City. His opponent is from the UK.
