Just wondering if anyone has attended the 28 day camp and can give any tips that they dont include in there general information? What to bring, how much spending $$ actually needed, any pointers or advice appreciated.

Not many Minnesota kids at the 28 day? I wonder why its in our back yard. Tons of kids from California, Arizona, Kansas, Michigan. So far only a few kids have cracked and gone home!! What a physical and mental challange.

MN has so many other and cheaper camps to go to, some are even free. Most of the dedicated kids are in Fargo right now and they did the MN USA camps for Fargo.

Speaking from experience the 28 day camp is a great way for an average wrestler who wouldn't do as well in Fargo to catch up to the more advanced wrestlers. J beats up the wrestlers and installs a great work ethic. Its like my old man used to say, "it takes time and pressure to turn a regular piece of coal into a diamond." If a kid is younger and goes to Jrob, he will learn how to work hard and be successful later. I don't think I would recommend going more than 1 year though. My oldest son went after his 7th grade year and dominated most kids he wrestled the next year. I thought it was well worth the cost which is the equivalent of 4 single week camps.

How did your boys like the camp and would they do it again?

The boys run 15 miles tomorrow AM and our son has been to many camps and I think the kids that are there (not too many from MN) stuck it out and did well. Jamie Holt (Sect. 6AA) took the Black Cap. We are really proud of him doing this. Good job. Our son said he wants to do it again in his junior year. This camp is for each wrestler individually and it will give them what they need if they are determined - the kids were definately challenged. Do you have to do this camp, No! But, if you want to do this camp you will benefit from it if you have the right attitude. If your child wants to do this camp and is ready to do it have them raise 1/2 or part of the money and then be sure they WANT it before you send them. If they ask you to go encourage them and work together to make it happen as it's not cheap but the investment is great (we hope). Good job to all the J Robinson Intensive Camp participants.

The boys ran the 15 miles this morning with no problem, except for our 14 year old who blew out his knee week 2. He finished it in time though. Mental toughness is what he learned. One tip I would give anyone attending next year the laundry service is not wworth it. The boys decided to do all there own laundry because the clothes coming back from the service smelled like oil. Save the money on that one. Also we were unaware of the Valley Fair trip that was mandatory and the boys had to pay for it. There was a couple small costs not in the literature, pool use (madatory), journal, and journal sleeve. Also if you are a runner you are at an advantage. I would suggest ALOT of running to get feet and body ready for all the running.

Overall confidence booster, mental toughness, awesome technique, great experience.
