Fedor gets triangled by Werdum a little over a minute into the fight. |

I didn't see it, but Sherdog.com just about broke when it happened. Also, Wikipedia's page for the event briefly read "Fedor by staredown". |

This is pretty funny really... Im pretty surprised he lost to werdum, but I figured he'd get trampled by Overeem anyway.... this was inevitable, Fedor is good but latley he's been more mystique than substance in my opinion....the sport has evolved a lot since his days of dominating PRIDE |

That's what I was kind of thinking. He was bound to lose some time, but I figured it would be Ubereem. |

I think this is going to really hurt Strikeforce...they were really hyping the Overeem vs Fedor fight...they have so much money tied up in Fedor...I just can't see them recovering...Overeem vs Werdum? who cares. |

A guy at work told me that the UFC will want to get Werdum there and bring him in as the guy who beat Fedor. Then throw him to the dogs. I have not looked into at all.. kinda lazy today. Anyone know more than I do? |

I haven't heard anything ...and this is pure speculation.. But wouldn't it be a good business decision for the UFC to award Werdum with a big fat contract...getting "the man who beat Fedor" is a step up from Fedor... And I have no doubt that Werdum will be mopped up by any of the top 5 in the UFC right now. Dos Santos, Gonzaga, Velasquez , Lesnar, Nogueira, heck even Frank Mir are better than him... Strikeforce has some good guys as well, Overeem, Fedor, and Antonia Silva...signing Werdum to the UFC would virtually guarentee Fedor coming over...and you just now everyone would follow him over....You can't tell me that he isn't staring into his plate of perogies right now just thinking about revenge. And truly, what is in it for Werdum? He beat the best, whey should he have to fight him right away? II understand why strikeforce wants this to happen...they have all their eggs in one basket...Fedor "is" Strikeforce...Did you sense the actual sadness coming from the announcers? Mauro Ranallo actually looked like a family member died...that was just the sound of his career ending. |

i agree, they are in big trouble. but i don't think ufc will be goin for fedor all too strongly anymore. he is no longer the best so whats the point of gettin a fighter past his prime. the ufc has plenty of those guys on contract already. i do see them going after werdum and maybe overeem. if fedor gets a re-match and wins then maybe but at this point i don't see that happening. i never saw any of his pride fights, but i saw some affliction and strikeforce and in my opinion he's done. |

i would not write Fedor off that quickly. How many top fighters never get beat. Fedor still has a cement head and knows how to win. He has to be on the downslide, but he is still top tier |

I dont think hes "done" because hes to old or anything, I dont even think he's done. He is probably still a top ten heavyweight. Its just that the sport has evolved past him a little bit. Hes still the same guy he's always been, there are just a handful of guys who have surpassed him.

The reason the sport has evolved past him is that he continues to use the old CCCP method for training. Have you ever watched his training in thoe pre hype shows? They run through forests in 15 below whether..throws a medicine ball into another over weight Russian guys belly..then go for ice cold dips in the fresh water lake and hot sauna baths....Seriously...who can push him to better? He has no one to work with. I am not a Rashad guy by any stretch of the imagination. Wanna be gangster in my opinion....but.. Watching his training at Greg Jackson's training facility prior to the Jackson fight was AWESOME....state of the art plyometrics machines...state of the art heart/O2 monitoring devices....Jardine, GSP, and numerous HIGH LEVEL MMA guys pushing HIM EVERYDAY....How can you not get better? Just imagine Fedor at 205 (Where he should be) training in Arizona with Jackson's guys? He would be an absolute beast. |

The combination of Training methodology and good training partners is everything. CCCP methods...dead. Running through the forest and jumping into a lake afterwards just doesn't work anymore. |

And why isn't Carwin on this list? Not like he isn't getting a title shot in a few days or anything... |
